AS THE EVENING wore on, laughter and chatter filled the pub, and rowan felt the buzz of excitement as more people gathered around the karaoke stage.

dim lights twinkled above, creating a soft atmosphere. there was still a warm breeze, as the sun rode downward.

rowan sat with molly and chris, glancing over at george, who was deep in conversation with the two arthurs. she watched as his eyes twitched over to her, making eye contact until rowan quickly looked away.

"are you actually doing this?" molly asked, her voice barely audible over the music.

"absolutely," rowan grinned, her heart racing at the thought of getting up on stage. she loved karaoke; it was her moment to shine.

rowan always had a voice— everyone knew that. and with that, everyone begged her to put out music for the whole world. little did people know, she had something brewing for the past few months.

no one, not even quinn or molly knew she would go to a studio once a week, creating and recording songs after songs.

"i still don't get how you can do it," molly replied, shaking her head. "the thought of everyone watching me? no, thanks."

"that's what makes it fun! it's all in good spirits," rowan insisted, nudging her playfully. "who cares what everyone else thinks?"

"we should do a duet!" her eyes lit up.

"oh god, no," molly protested, her eyes wide. "not with me."

"come on! we can pick a fun song. it'll be funny!" rowan pressed.

chris leaned in, smirking. "i bet george would get up there if you asked him."

rowan shot a glance at george, who was laughing at something one of the arthurs said. she felt a mix of excitement and irritation; she was still frustrated with him for earlier.

"don't be silly, chris," she said, trying to sound nonchalant, "anyway, i think it'd be fun," she shrugged.

the crowd cheered as the current singer finished, and the host called for the next brave soul. rowan leaned forward, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
