Back at the “resistances” base… That name was Abis idea, you know like in the movies! She had to explain the concept of those to Oreo. (It's always the cats from Kemono Woods…) That's also glossing over the fact that they barely counted as something like, especially with only four people…

Good thing that'd probably change today.

Abi got up with a quick “yawn”, only to be greeted with Oreo leaning against a wall as she got herself ready for the day. Up as early as ever, that seemed to be a thing he was doing more than usual. “Whatcha doing?”

“Nothing.” He replied. “Just thinking, mostly about what we should do next.”

“Do you have a plan…?” Knowing him it wouldn't hurt to ask.

And that's the thing here, as much as he wouldn't want to admit it… “Not really…”

Well that's definitely a shocker, especially for him. So… “Alright, I'll help you. Let's get the others.” Guess this was just routine now.

Next meeting comes and Oreo asks a question he should've brought up from the start. “So, do any of you have family?”

“I-” Molly immediately dropped her cocky attitude, only to pick it back up less than a moment later. “I'd be lucky if my parents even cared about me.” Tch. She got that they were “busy” (their words not hers) but they never even bothered to send her a letter at the very least…

Still, there is one person. “There is my sister I guess…”

Next, Rex. O-oh him? The german shepherd scrambles up from starting into the distance. “Uh, there's my dad. He's a cop, or something.”

Oh wow, actual law enforcement. Most places don't have that, it's something even in Abis eyes.

Speaking of Abi, now that Oreo thought about it… “Come to think of it, Abi. You've never told me about your family.”

The border collie jumped up at the question but kept her composure with a light giggle. Another question she couldn't answer. “It's complicated… Too complicated…”  Just something else to add onto her pile of secrets.

So that's why she immediately switched the subject! “Wait, if we're going to save Molly and Rexs families we'll need better ways to defend ourselves, right?”

Things like sports goods and blunt instruments could only last so long, and actual weapons would be out of the question for the most part. Ergo, the next best thing came to her mind. “How about something like Magic?”

The room immediately goes dead silent with Abi and Rex turning to the two cats. Maybe she shouldn't have said that…

Ahhh… Oreo could already feel the last fragile bits of his ego slipping away. Abi really knew how to hurt a felines heart, didn't she? “I'm not really good with magic….”

Molly's too as if she needed a reminder. “Me neither.”

“We don't have wands or some kind of other conduct either, so no magic for us.” The vanilla cat reluctantly added.

Abi instinctively pulled on her hair out of annoyance. Two cats and they're both magicless. Woo-hoo… “And it's not like dogs can use magic…”  (Wait, why did Rex seem saddened by that?)

“You sure do know a lot about magic for a dog, huh?” And that was coming from Molly of all people, she barely paid attention in class herself.

Well uh- “Of course I do, I'm not an idiot!” Hey, she paid attention in class! Sorta! Kinda! Okay, maybe she did tend to slack off, just a tiny bit, it's not like she really needed those classes anyways.

But since magic was a no go, that left one thing in Abis mind. “What about communications?”

Now that was something that a planner like Oreo didn't know about, which made his next question all the more stupid… “Can't we just use wifi?” Judging by everyone's dumbfounded faces they could in fact, not use wifi.

He knew he had it bad when Rex was the one correcting him. “That's not how it works… It'd only work for a short distance with the lines down, anyway.”

“How would I know that, you're the dogs here!” Sheesh…

“Still…” Abi butted in again for a moment.”It is a good idea.” Halfly at the very least. “We could text each other whilst we're out.”

Haha! “Take that!” See, see, he's a genius! Unrivaled and unmatched.

As if the smirk on his face wasn't enough of an indication of that…

Alright though, just for an overview they needed to go and save both Rexs and Molly's families. Abi really doubted either of them would want to wait another day so… “We'll split up.”

Wait, wait. Hang on there. “Isn't that dangerous?” Rex didn't want anyone getting hurt for his sake.

Now he's worrying? Oreo pulled Rex to the side into a very awkward arm rest. “Relax, we'll be fine.”

A sight that made Abi lightly chuckle a bit.

Who should go with who though…? Hm… Choices, choices…

A. I'll go with Rex. Oreo, you'll go with Molly.

B. I'll go with Molly. Oreo, you'll go with Rex.
