E. Warn Rex to get out the way.

“REX!”

He jumps to the side as she shouts at him, just in time!

A steel tri dagger with strange jewels imbued into it whizzes past. Right where he once stood.

All three of them turn to where it came from.

Wait.. “There's no way…” That was a face Rex recognized, after all how couldn't he? Blue labrador, glasses, short hair… “Cosmo…?”

He laughed as he lowered himself off of a nearby light post. Well, well, well… “Look at what we have here, Rex…”

“But how, I didn't even-” He didn't even know he was alive for goodness sake!  And now for Cosmo to show up now of all times, like this… He…

Cosmo raised an arm as the dagger in the ground returned back to his side, something that should've been impossible for any dog. Though it was clear as any, it wasn't his power. “It's amazing what magic can do once you use it right, huh?”

That just made everything all the more of a pity, didn't it? “A shame I can't let you pass.”

“But why?!” That's what Rex didn't get. Why was Cosmo doing this? There had to be some kind of reasonable explanation knowing him… “Is someone forcing you…? Tell me who…”

The labrador chuckled again. Correct, he was in a way. Although, he liked to see it as more of a mutual transaction more than anything.  “That is something I cannot say.”

Alas, as bitter as Cosmo felt, all good things must come to an end. He rushed at Rex, the poor thing unable to even make a move against him.

Blood spilled with the flash of daggers.

Kent tried to protect his son, believe me. Dammit! “Oh no you don't!” However, his bullets were met with deflects as he himself was knocked to the ground. How did he even…?

Next thing Rex knew he was on his knees, with that endearing glare he once longed for looking right dead at him.

“You know, things don't have to be this way.” An offer by Cosmo. “You could just give in, then we could run off, be together…” One could've swore there was almost a faint smile on his face. It would be their little “getaway.”

And honestly, Rex wanted to accept it. He really really did.

It was great for him that a certain border collie just wasn't going to have it that way. She got up. She knew what to do.

Schwing. Something cuts at the air, and more importantly leaves a wound on Cosmos chest. A purposefully broken hockey stick in her backhand.

Ah- Clever. “You really got me… Unfortunately, this is where I take my leave.” Just as things end, they must also begin, no? There were much greater things in store.

And so, with that: “Seeya, Rex.” Cosmo almost instantly disappeared to who knows where.

That, weirdo! What the heck did he want with his son?!

Of course, Kent got his answer the moment Abi hesitantly asked the very same question. “So were you…?”

Rex only offered her a small reply. “Yeah…”
