Meanwhile
The boys return from their outing after a half hour of enjoying the outdoors. "Blimey, that was a beautiful garden! Glad there were roses, and they're Amanda's favorite type of flower." Said Paul. "I've never seen purple roses before. But I will say, they're gorgeous." Said Derek
"Purple is Amanda's favorite color after all, which explains why she always wears that same dress every day. What do they call the light shade of purple?" Paul asked. "Lavender or lilac, and they're also types of flowers." Derek said. "Ah, lavender or lilac. I'll remember that from now on." Said Paul. "I believe you will." Said Derek.
Silence filled the room, and it started making the two uncomfortable. "Um... is it just me, or is it too quiet in here?" Paul said. "No, it's not just you. The girls aren't back yet." Derek said. "Oh dear, you don't think this is a repeat of yesterday, do you?" Asked Paul. "I doubt it... though another part of me thinks there's something off. Maybe we can walk around and ask if anyone has seen them pass by." Said Derek.
Paul nods in agreement, then the boys head back out to track down their wives. After about five minutes of walking, Paul stops when he sees a particular place. "I don't remember this park when I was here." He said. "It can't hurt to look around." Derek said. "Good idea. If I know Amanda, she and Odette probably stopped by here at one point." Paul said. "Considering she loves parks, yeah." Said Derek. They enter the park to find any trace of the girls. So far they had no luck, until...
"Derek, look!" Said Paul. He points to the grass where a familiar object catches his eye. "What am I looking at, exactly?" Derek asked. The boys approach the object on the ground, then Paul picks it up. "Amanda's tiara. She'd never go anywhere without it." He said. "Wait, there's something else." Said Derek. He picks up another shiny piece of headwear. "Is that...?" Paul asked. "Odette's crown." Derek said.
Worried expressions appear on the boys' faces. "I don't wanna assume the worst, but what if something happened to them?" Asked Paul. "Your guess is as good as mine." Said Derek. "Hey, what's that?" Paul asked. He drops back down to his knees and picks up another small object. "Paper?" Derek asked. "It's a gum wrapper." Paul said.
"Gum?" Asked Derek. "Has anyone in Chamberg ever tried it?" Asked Paul. "No." Derek said. "Well then, let me explain something to you. Never swallow gum, it's not digestible. Don't ask me why, I didn't make the rules." Paul said. "Alright then, I won't ask." Said Derek. "Good." Said Paul.
"Hey, Paul, get a load of this!" Derek said. He points to a trail in the dirt. "Are those... drag marks?" Paul asked. "Looks like it, and they're making a trail. Maybe the girls got dragged by something and it'll lead us to where they are." Said Derek. "Or someone." Said Paul. "Come on." Derek said.
Now the search for the girls has gotten a lot easier, but things will soon get harder as the boys proceed.
