TREVANTE POV

To be continued

I walked inside of the house, closing the door behind me and walked in the living room seeing Janet's mother, and her aunt Ruby.

"Hey mama" I said to Janet's mother. Then I said "Hey aunt Ruby"

They just looked at me.

"Uh.. Where's Janet?" I asked since they didn't say anything.

"Why didn't you come to us when Janet was abducted?" Aunt Ruby asked me.

I rose my eyebrows.

How they find out about that?

"Oh come on look- I feel bad enough, I definitely don't need y'all all in our business." I said.

"My daughter's safety is our business." Janet's mom said.

"Well it's my job to protect my family. And I had no control over what happened, so don't go blaming me." I said.

Completely feeling attacked right now.

"Do you know what post traumatic stress is?" Aunt Ruby said to me.

"Yes Ruby I do." I said sarcastically.

"And you can't see that Janet might be suffering from it? And I'd think hard before answering that because she had a breakdown at the funeral home today." Ruby said.

"A breakdown? Is she okay?" I said in alert.

"Well she's fine now, I just put her to sleep. So please don't go bothering her and waking her up." Her mom said.

"Look- I know Janet has been through a lot, but I been here with her and she seems to be getting better everyday." I said.

"Well that goes to show what you don't know!" Ruby said.

"Ruby- I just said I put her to sleep, could you calm down?" Her mom said.

"I can't calm down! Trevante put my niece, YOUR daughter's life in danger and now he's trying to say he's not responsible!" Ruby said.

"I'm not saying I didn't play a part in it but I'm doing everything I can to help her get through it!" I said.

"Except tell her family." Her mom said.

"Us!" Ruby yelled.

"What's going on?" Janet asked sleepily as she walked in the living room.

Everybody got quiet.

"I asked what is going on" She said looking around.

"They wanna blame everything on me." I said.

"Aht! Don't clump me into Ruby's drama, I'm not blaming you but I am saying you played a part in what happened to her." Her mother said.

"And I admitted that!" I said.

"She doesn't need to be with some acting street thug!" Ruby yelled.

"Everybody just stop it! Stop it!" Janet said and everybody got quiet. She sighed.

"Trevante's sorry okay? He's apologized a million times and he definitely didn't know it was gonna resort to all of this. But he learned a lesson from it. So you can't come in here and tell him I shouldn't be with him and whatever else because that decision is solely up to me." Janet said.

I took a sigh of relief, happy that she was defending me.

"I have a problem with that." Ruby said.

"Why do you even-"

"Trevante it's okay, it's okay." Janet said stopping me from saying what I was gone say.

Which was probably good because I done had enough of aunt Ruby's shit.

"Aunt Ruby, I'm sorry if this sounds rude but that's a you problem. Because this is between me and Trevante. I had a slight breakdown today and I appreciate you and mama being there for me but that doesn't mean either of you dictate my decision making because of it." Janet said.

I loved that she was putting her foot down.

"We just want you to be safe baby. I love Trevante, okay? I just hate the situation he put you in" Her mother said.

"I know but we're getting better by the day. So everybody can just calm down alright? Please." Janet said.

Ruby got up and she left out of the house and Janet just shook her head.

"I'll go deal with her." Janet's mother said as she stood up and walked out.

Janet then looked over at me.

"Thank you... For having my back." I said.

She just nodded her head.

"I was thinking about something." I said.

"What's up?" Janet said.

"I was thinking that... Me moving back in here is probably doing more harm then good. Maybe they're right. Maybe the best thing for you is that we split up. This time for good.." I said sighing.

Janet just looked at me for a moment before she said "There was a time that I was considering that option. But we're working this out."

"Yeah but aunt Ruby said that-"

"Don't worry about what aunt Ruby OR my mother said. They don't live here. And they are certainly not in this relationship." Janet said and I nodded my head.

"I'll be honest with you, I don't trust you fully, the way I once did but I want that feeling again. I wanna look at you and feel safe. So I think we should continue to take things one day at a time." Janet said.

"Okay.. I like that idea." I said.

"And I'll take my mother's advice and see a counselor. Someone who might be able to help me to get better. And I think you need to stay here, Trevante." Janet said.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"Absolutely." She said.

We both smiled and I grabbed her hand.

"I love you so much Janet. I really do." I said.

"I love you more." She said. I hugged her tightly before rubbing her stomach and I felt lil man kick.

"He just kicked" She said.

"I felt it" I said with a smile.

"Got about a month and half left before we meet little man" Janet said smiling too.

I kissed her forehead, then her cheek, then her lips over and over before we hugged again.
