"If the people we love are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Buildings burn, and people die, but real love is forever." Sarah said as the movie ended.

"The crow? Again?" Mack asked as she walked in from outside to see Maren laying on the couch with tears she blinked from her eyes.

"This isn't healthy, Maren; it's been three months since you've broken up." Mack said, trying to bring the girl back to reality.

"I know, I just don't know how to move on. I've never been broken up with someone before." Maren turned the T.V. off before looking to her roommate.

"We could start by getting you out of this dorm. And don't say you do by going to classes because you come straight back here." Mack said.

"Everyone's going to Florida for spring break. Tommy and I are going, and we would be happy if you came along. Tommy's also brings his stepbrother Jack." Mack quirked a brow as Maren shook her head.

"Why not." Maren said, standing up, and Mack cheered.

"That's the spirit. We're leaving on Thursday, so have your bags packed." Mack patted her shoulder before walking to her room.

Maren sighed before walking to the bathroom and talking a shower to wash the couch rotting off of her.

Sh walked to her room and changed into some comfy clothes before going through her drawers and packing clothes.

She came across in her bottom drawer, Jess's Metallica shirt. Her lip trembled before anger overtook her, and she ripped every article of clothing that had belonged to him, and she stuffed it into a cardboard box before shoving it to the back of her closet.

Already in a bad mood, she finished packing and plopped onto her bed and closed her eyes.

Her eyes fluttered open after a couple hours of sleep to the ring of her flip phone. She sighed before answering it.

"Hello?" She asked with a scratchy voice.
The caller on the other side of the line was quiet.

"Hello? If you don't answer, I'm going to hang up." Maren warned, and the caller continued to be silent, and so Maren hung up and threw the phone across her bed.

She turned her head to look outside her window to see that it was dark out.

She figured she might as well go back to bed instead of staying up.

Thursday had come around, and so Maren had her bags ready at the door.

"You ready? Tommy's waiting outside." Mack asked, and Maren nodded before grabbing her bag and following the girl to Tommy's car.

She put her bags in the trunk before hopping in the backseat behind Tommy's seat. Mack already sat shotgun in the passenger seat.

"Maren, this is my stepbrother, Jack." Tommy introduced the boy that was sat next to her in the back seats.

She looked to the boy and noticed that he had light brown hair that was tousled about his head. It almost reminded her of how Jess styled his hair. He wore a black sweater that had a huge skull on the front of it with blue jeans and a belt that hugged around his waist.

Much like jess, he had a cigarette in his right hand and the window down so the smoke would blow out and not smoke out everyone in the car.

"Hey." He smiled with a nod, and his voice was heavily deep but smooth like butter.         "Hi." Maren smiled back.
