We all gathered in the shrine of Judgment. Everyone conversed, argued, went over promises, whatever. I just clung to Kaede. I could barely hang on to my consciousness at the moment.
Soon enough, we entered an elevator and descended. Meaningless chatter filled my ears as I stood completely silent in a corner. Life has never been this serious for me. I never had to worry about.. living. It was almost always a 50/50 chance of whether or not I'd live to see another day. It was never up to.. me.
When the elevator stopped, we were guided to our respective podiums. I was wedged between Angie and Kiyo. Not the worst spot, but a weird spot to be. Should I even be complaining about where I stand right now? And with that, the trial began.
"I'll begin the conversation then.." Kiyo rasped. "There's something I found curious—Why, I wonder, didn't the culprit take advantage of the First Blood Perk?"
"Then Monokuma's the culprit! Duh-doy! Cuz this whole class trial was his idea!" Miu exclaimed. "Hoo-yeah! I'm a fuckin genius!"
"More like a fuckin idiot," I retorted. "I don't think it's even possible for Monokuma to be the culprit." That wasn't a complete reach, but it would be so.. easy.. if Monokuma was the one who killed Rantaro.
"Party girl is right! I would never do anything to you guys directly." So he could harm us indirectly.. got it. " Even if you can't, it's a different story for the person controlling you, right?" Kaede said, seeming to read my mind. Looks like things are actually going well so far!
"Is it possible that the mastermind controlling Monokuma killed Rantaro?" she inquired. Monokuma and his children acted confused like they never heard the word "mastermind" before.
"The mastermind, huh? Odds are, it's one of us..."
"It's Kee-boy over here! Everyone else thinks so too!"
" D-Does everyone really think that...!?"
"No.. I wouldn't suspect you ever."
Steering us back on topic, Kiyo said, "Before we determine the mastermind, we must uncover the culprit."
"Then...we could start by determining the sequence of events? Let's take a closer look at the circumstances of Rantaro's death." Shuichi suggested. It just happened. How much do we have to look over? I internally groaned at the thought of revisiting Rantaro's dead body and well.. his murder. The debate started.
