005: VANYA

༊*·˚

Harper spent the day with Allison, looking for Vanya.

A group of men were attacked the night they were travelling there, they said by a girl with a bomb. They asked questions, but didn't get any details on if it was Vanya. But it seemed that Peabody had gone off the deep end, vanishing deep in the woods somewhere with her, and seeming to be doing some sort of weird shit, with three people dead and more in hospital. Cars dented, windows broken. It didn't sound good, to say the least. And according to the nurse, while Allison and Harper had tracked down and visited Peabody's cabin in the woods, they were at the hospital.

The police officer at the hospital had told them to stay there, after they had worked out where Vanya was, but Allison and Harper ignored him, driving back to the cabin.

"How are we going to go about this?" Harper asked, as night fell over them.

"We're going to talk to her and bring her home. What else would we do?"

As they neared the cabin, music playing from inside, and some strange force blowing everything away from the house like a storm meeting their eyes, Harper felt something in the pit of her stomach.

"Look, Peabody appeared nice, right? What if he's turned Vanya against you all."

She scoffed, though there was no humor behind it. "He couldn't do that."

"You all have super powers, and Dad prefered you."

"Yeah, but Vanya knows-"

"You all were the favourite compared to her."

Allison pulled the car to a stop, and sighed. "We'll talk to her. She's not crazy."

"but he is. And it's easy to use someone's own ideas to turn them against their family. Allison, look at where we are. At who he is."

"I've got a plan."

"I can wait here. She's never even met me."

"No." Allison shook her head. "I think we need someone who's not emotionally involved, to be honest. And your sister's a cop, you'll know how to handle this kind of . . . situation."

"My sister. Not me. I've just been in bad situations with manipulative cunts."

"Know more than me, then."

She stopped for a moment, thinking, before she climbed out of the car, and Harper followed.

When they entered through the front door of the cabin, Vanya stopped playing her violin, and looked at them.

"What are you doing here?!" She questioned.

"We came to find you." Allison started. Badly. "Are you okay?"

Vanya looked at her, confused, but backing down from her defensive tone. "Yeah."

"There's something weird going on." Allison looked around.

Vanya's eyes fell on Harper.

"Hi." She lifted her hand for a wave, but then it fell back to her side. "Sorry."

"Who're you?"

"Harper. She's a friend of Klaus's. Well, kind of all of us, I guess." Allison said.

"I like your music." Harper said, awkwardly. She wasn't sure how to go into this. "I play piano. Used to play guitar, but -" She held up her gloved hands. "Blasted exc-"
