0O8: THE APOCALYPSE

༊*·˚

As they ran up the steps to the Icarus Theatre, no longer being pursued by their masked attackers, Allison stopped the others, holding up her notepad.

'I need to go alone.'

As the music played from the concert hall, Luther sighed.

"Allison, I can't let you do that. She's beyond reasoning."

"You hear the music?" Diego yelled, making Harper jump. "It's started!"

"Do you honestly think she's going to listen? After everything that's happened?"

Klaus began pacing. "we don't have time for this."

"If we can get her out, then we can talk to her." Harper said. "Anyway, you're speaking like there's another option. What're we going to do, get Diego to snipe her with a knife from the rafters?"

Luther sighed. "Fine."

Allison hit Harper's arm, and held up her notepad. 'You speak for me.'

"She doesn't know me. I don't think-" She started.

Allison tapped the page again, to force her point.

"Fine."

As Harper followed Allison into the hallway, she couldn't help the feeling that Luther gave up to easily, and so decided that it was her and Allison for Vanya, and against Luther. Most probably. And Diego and Klaus followed him like God knows what, so she just would have to adapt. God, she wished she said no to helping Faye.

The theatre itself was full, with people dressed to the nines as they watched a pale Vanya play the violin, surrounded by an orchestra. It was beautiful.

Harper had always wanted to see an orchestra live, but never had anyone to go with, and didn't like the idea of going alone. There was something so powerful in the notes when they were played right in front of you.  It was like it stripped you down to your most real self, which Harper guessed was what was making so many emotions swirl in her chest. Or maybe it was Vanya's power. Or both. Probably just Vanya herself. There was a feeling in the music and air that was just . . . it felt like her heart was beating to the tune of the violin.

And when Vanya's eyes fell on Allison and Harper, she smiled.

If this was how the world was to end, Harper was glad it was so beautiful. As horrible as humans are, people like Vanya deserved such a pretty ending. The hurt, who wanted to be kind, yet others turned them cruel.

Of course, Luther ruined it, by running out on stage, straight at Vanya.

She stood, sweeping the bow out, which created a white wave of power that knocked Luther back and off the stage, blowing air onto the crowd, who screamed and began running to the exits.

The orchestra themselves tried to do the same, but Vanya swept her bow out over them, too, and the white wave made them fall back into their seats, and continue playing.

As the crowd screamed, and were ushered out by the family and Harper, Vanya stood playing her violin as she watched them, another wave sweeping across the crowd as they burst out of the doors, emptying the theatre.

"Well, she's stronger than expected." Diego said.

Luther panted, as the pair ducked behind a row of seats. "Yeah."

"Bitch!" Harper threw a fallen shoe that someone had left behind at Luther's head, making him grunt and hold the forming bump.

"Look, you both almost died once, we weren't about to lose you again."
