006: THE ACADEMY

Grace hurried around the infirmary of the mansion, the boys watching with Pogo the ape, as Allison and Harper lay on two gurneys.

"Allison suffered a severe laceration to her larynx." Grace informed them. "Harper, the same to her bicep to the bone. One of you is going to have to give blood."

"I will." They all said at once.

"I'm doing it!" Luther pulled up his sleeve.

Pogo looked at him. "I'm afraid that's not possible, dear boy. Your blood is more compatible with mine."

"Hey, don't sweat it!" Klaus pushed himself between Luther and Grace, looking at Harper's blood soaked face. "I got this, big guy. I love needles." He held up his arm, smacking his elbow.

"Master Klaus," Pogo started. "Your blood is - how should I say this? Too polluted."

"Move." Diego stepped forward. "If it didn't kill her, Harper will kill you if you turn her into an addict. I'll do it."

Five looked at him. "I don't think that's how it works."

Grace grabbed the needle, and turned to him, but the second Diego saw it, he fainted, making them yell.

Pogo shrugged. "Stick him."

When Harper woke up, she was alone.

The skin on her hand felt tight, the skin on her arm felt restricted. And when she reached her hand up, she felt a bandage wrapped tightly around her right arm.

Shakily, she got to her feet, as she felt like someone ran past her, but looked and saw no one there.

It took her a while, with how drowsy she felt, but she made her way out of the infirmary and down the hallway, to where she could hear voices.

As she got closer, she got wobblier, struggling to stand, until she thought someone took her arm to help her, but no one was there. So, she ignored it, now finding it easier to walk, and made her way down the hall towards the bedrooms.

"Hello?" Her voice came out hoarse.

Unsurprisingly, it was Klaus's head that popped out one of the rooms.

"You're alive! I thought you weren't, thanks to Ben wandering off. Thought he was walking you to the bright light in the sky."

She looked at him for a moment, mind still blank. "Is . . . Aliso-"

"Is fine, and Vanya . . . well, we can talk about that later. Come here! you're covered in blood, child!" He went back into his room.

She followed, walking up a little more as she did, pushing the door open to see him room. Posters covered the walls, there were several rugs and cushions on the ground, along with clothes and bed clothes sewn around the room.

"I like your fairy lights." She said pointing to the lights above his bed.

"What?" He looked up from his wardrobe. "Oh, yeah. Here."

He threw a coat or shirt at her, hitting her arm and making her groan.

"Calm down. So-" He began talking.

"Turn around!"

"What? You lived in army barracks for a year!"

"Yeah, and women learn the skill of changing without ever actually being naked, but I can't do that with this goddamned arm."
