MAYA WAS GETTING ON VICTORIA'S NERVES. The blonde girl failed to grasp that Lorenzo was not interested in her, even when he snapped at her and told her to get lost. He did not pay attention to her, but she was still trying to get close and openly flirting with him, fueling Victoria's jealousy. All of their friends noticed Maya's advances and tried to distract her from Enzo, except Sophia. The girl acted as if an old childhood friend was not doing anything wrong. For now. Harper and Sebastian went to the bar for another round of drinks, leaving Victoria and Lorenzo with Sophia and Maya.
" Do you want to go to dance? " Enzo whispered in his wife's ear, gently caressing her sides as she was still seated on his lap. She did not mind it as she was very comfortable in his arms and actually enjoyed their proximity.
" Yes, " Victoria smiled, replaying to Enzo in a heartbeat.
She interweaved their fingers together and both of them stood up to go to the dance floor. Lorenzo did not miss an opportunity to pat her asscheek a few times while they were walking. It made Victoria giggle and Maya furrowed her eyebrows. The blonde girl's eyes followed them, her expression unreadable, her lips slightly pursed as her fingers toyed absentmindedly with the rim of her glass. The dim lighting of the club masked her expression, but her restless movements betrayed her. She tried to appear nonchalant, leaning back in her seat as Lorenzo and Victoria made their way to the dance floor, but she could not tear her eyes from them.
Sophia, lounging lazily beside Maya, took a sip of her drink and glanced at the blonde. " You know, " she began, breaking the silence between them. " It's obvious what you're doing. It's not going to work, " Sophia said.
Maya's lips curved into a thin smile. " Well, every couple has their moments, " she replied. " It's going to work. "
Sophia raised an eyebrow but did not comment further, letting Maya continue to live in her delusions. She took another sip of her drink and her eyes drifted towards the dance floor where Lorenzo had already wrapped Victoria in his arms. Their bodies moved effortlessly in sync and the club's lights flickered over them in bursts of neon and shadow.
" She's watching us, isn't she? " Victoria whispered against his lips as he pulled her closer to him and guided her gently to the slower and sultrier rhythm of the music.
