« Through the midnight moonlight of New York, you talk with your false lover, Choso. As you stood under a lamppost, tears in his eyes, you question him. "What ales you my dear?" »

"You." He mutters through shaken tears. You step closer, your large hand reaching out and gently cupping his left cheek in your calloused hand. "What have I done?" You ask, seeing his sadness hurt you. "Please go." He pleads, his lip trembling.

"What's wrong my dear?" You ask once more, your voice softening as you bring him closer.
"You know nothing about me you've known me only three weeks." He says through shaky words as he looks you up and down, realizing this would be his last time seeing you. It broke his heart. He had fallen for you.

It wasn't by choice.. but he had to kill you. He couldn't live with being in love with a man he was destined to kill. "Three weeks? Choso, I've known you all my life." You say, in such a short period of time you've fallen head over heels for the man in front of you. Who was clutching onto the pistol that would soon end your life.

"All your life?" He questions, his beautiful makeup ruined by tears pouring down his emotional face as you wipe them away with a gentle, swift, swipe of your thumb. "It's true, I've seen you in as many plays, read you in many books, when I heard beautiful music I thought
"He'd like that.""

You say as you softly smile, seeing the man you thought you would spend the rest of your short, short life with break down infront of you.
"I can't help you, Rudolph." The broken
man whispers as his hands begin to have a slight shake to them.

"Please tell me.. why do you want to kill me? I thought you loved me." You whisper, knowing he doesn't but you just wanted confirmation.. or. comfort. Comfort knowing he wouldn't actually kill you.

"I do.. but.. I don't want to betray you." He whispers, wiping his tears as he looks up at you, his hand cocking the gun. You were about to speak up, but he interrupts you. "If I betray you, then I betray myself. And if I betray him, I betray my country. My country is very dear to me."

"Dearer than I.?" You softly question, your voice quietly shaking as you tear up, knowing what he would say, and how selfish it sounded.
But you were too desperate to care. You needed to know.

"No.. not dearer than you." He whispers, a sigh of relief leaving your lips as you take a step back, your hand over your chest. You look down at your pocket, pulling out a pack of cigarettes, needing some form of relief from the suddenly stressful situation. "Mind if I smoke?" You ask, pulling a match box out, lighting your cigarette.

"Smoke?" He asks, tilting his head. "You smoke?" You nod. "I always smoke with the theatre somehow." You say, a smirk playing at your lips as you gently scratch your chin. "You can do anything you please, Rudolph." He says, smiling faintly. But it wasn't real; oh god no.
