Chapter 15

Megatron was still grinning at Optimus after Prime had asked what Megatron wanted. The information he had to give in regarding what Soundwave had picked up regarding Mech's activity. While Optimus was apprehensive about what exactly Megatron wanted in return, he would only hope that he would not do harm to Azura. As far as Optimus was concerned, Azura has been through enough already, and she deserved to have peace.

"I think my request is very simple to achieve. For the information I have, I will give it to you as long as I am given your word and promise to allow me to witness Azura's rebirth." Optimus widened his optics and he almost immediately refused, as he knew he would be at his most vulnerable state, and he didn't want Megatron to take advantage of that. "I will allow for communication to my ship to ensure that one of your autobots inform me when your labor starts. Understand that I only want to travel via the ground to witness Azura's rebirth, and leave shortly after, in case she wants to interact with her sire."

Bumblebee stared at him in shock. "You want to see that?" Megatron nodded affirmatively. "Well...I can't really say if that should or shouldn't happen, Megatron, but...not sure if that is ideal. How would we know if you won't just try to leave the base so you can figure out the location and destroy it after?"

Megatron chuckled lightly. "I am not surprised you would assume that. But no, I only wish to witness Azura's rebirth. That is all I want. I don't think that is a big request. And I know it isn't a normal birth, so..." He glanced down at Optimus's abdomen again, longing to touch it, but knew he could not. "I will not need to be concerned with a normal emergence. Knockout was able to inform me of that."

That part was true. While Optimus would be vulnerable, it wasn't like he had a valve canal for a normal birth. That didn't mean Optimus liked the idea, but it wasn't outrageous. Azura wasn't awake to give her opinion on it though, but he knew she might want him there. Optimus didn't like the request, and he wanted to reject it, but for Azura's sake he would allow it. He just hoped it wouldn't be something he would regret.

"Very well." Bumblebee looked at Optimus in shock when Optimus agreed. "But make no mistake, Megatron. I am only accepting your request as I know Azura will want your presence, despite her last encounter with you. She still loves you." Megatron's smile softened a little upon hearing that Azura loved him. "So this decision is for her benefit. But I will rescind it if you should do something that harms her directly, especially if you decide to try and fight me."

Megatron chuckled at Optimus's response. "That is a reasonable response, Optimus. At least I know I have to be careful until she's reborn, but after she is here, I don't intend to stop my conquering of this planet, Optimus."

Optimus was immediately disappointed and he frowned at Megatron. "So you do intend on continuing this ancient war?" Megatron just smiled proudly and Optimus sighed deeply. "Why? You stopped fighting for good a long time ago, Megatron. But if you want Azura to lose this world too, go right ahead."

Megatron intakes heavily as he knew there would be questions. "That might be true, Optimus. But I like the power that I feel when I am in control. I never thought I would find myself in that position before, but I am now...even if there is no Cybertron to rule. But I intend to rule this one. That has not changed."

Optimus's expression changed to sadness as he listened to Megatron and caressed his abdomen, knowing that what Megatron said was true. It hurt his spark to know Azura may never look up to Megatron in a way sparklings normally would, even if she still loves him. But if he still choose the path to destruction, Optimus could not convince him otherwise. And Optimus doubted that even Azura could change his mind. But she could, if there was ever an opportunity for the two of them to spend time together.
