When All Lights Go Out II (TFP)

Chapter 27

Upon arriving in Ratchet's lab, which Azura has not seen until now. It was not as large as the med bay, but there was a lot more equipment in here that Ratchet would use to make things or to study. Azura didn't know what any of it was, aside from testing tunes and microscopes, but as she was unlikely to be interested in Cybertronian science, she may never know what all this equipment really was. Regardless, she wasn't here for that. She was extremely excited about getting her coverings finally. But getting the design right was something that took a bit of time.

Azura was sitting on a small table while Ratchet showed her to the different pieces for each part of her body. And Optimus had not been lying that the coverings were very basic. In fact, the piece that would connect to her chassis abdomen and back was somewhat of an oval shape with a faint femme design in it. Ratchet did explain that this was just how all the coverings looked before they were applied to sparklings, just as Optimus explained it. The only difference was that some of the colours can be influenced by the CNA, meaning that additional colour could form when the coverings are applied. It confused Azura, but she guessed she would understand when the coverings are put on her protoform.

Jack, Miko and Raf were all also sitting on the table so they could see, and June had also arrived at the base after Optimus had carried Azura out of her nursery Ratchet's laboratory so she was also sitting on the table. And she had already been told by both Jack and Arcee about Jack not being truthful about the fish tanks, which did result in the woman scolding her son about lying to Optimus and his daughter. Luckily, she did not focus on it as everyone was here to support Azura when she received her coverings.

Right now, Ratchet and Optimus were dyeing the coverings for Azura. The part that would attach to her chassis, abdomen and back was done. It was not full white like one would expect, but it seemed to have a slight pearl shade to it. Azura had taken notice, but she liked it, so she said nothing. Down the sides of the piece was red with a streak of gold down the center of the front and back of the piece. Azura had no idea what it was going to feel like when the pieces were put on her, but she assumed it would be similar to how it felt to transform.

Her shoulder pads were red with a large, gold circle in the center, and they were connected to the upper arm piece that was full white. The lower arm and wrist were also white with a gold diamond shape on the back of each wrist piece. Her hand pieces were full white with golden knuckles. Azura couldn't wait for the last pieces to be done, which were her hip, thigh, lower leg and foot pieces to be finished. Her hip pieces would be white, while her thighs and lower leg pieces were white with red stripes along the sides and back of the pieces and her feet would be red. Azura did wonder if any additional colours would be added, and she suspected that there would be, but she would wait and see when they do get put on her.

"What do you imagine you will look like when the coverings are put on you, Azura?" Miko asked curiously and the sparkling looked at the girl in surprise. "Do you think there will be a bit of a dragon flare through the coverings?"

Azura shrugged as she wasn't sure. "Possibly. I do transform into a dragon, so I think there is going to be a lot of evidence that is present in my CNA. But I also think it will be easier to see who influenced my CNA at my creation. I already suspect my shoulders will look a bit like Megatron's with the sharp shoulder pads at least. But everything else...hard to know."

"This is really going to be fascinating to watch. Especially as there will be colours that your own body will naturally form." Miko looked up at Bulkhead with a smile. "But since you can change colours when you scan something, does this mean you haven't always been green?"

Bulkhead chuckled softly and shook his head. "No, this has always been my colour. My appearance has only changed due to the vehicle I scanned when we arrived on Earth, but that's about it. We have an organ, second to our t-cog, that does control the panels of our body, which Azura will understand when the coverings are put on." Azura looked at Bulkhead as he spoke. "I'm sure you may or may not have noticed that some of the vehicle parts you see may not be the correct size of the vehicle I've scanned. This is all simply due to the systems that controls it."
