Chapter 14

A new teacher arrived today and something about him seemed off, I need to remember to talk to Stefan later so we can look into him. Making my way to the Grill meeting up with Tyler, it's been a while I guess I've had a lot going on. "Hey Ty" I smile as I walk into the Grill and over to the pool table where he's waiting. "Hey Rory! Long time no see" Hitting his shoulder softly at the nickname "Rack up then, let's play!" Walking over to grab a cue as Tyler sets up, I notice Stefan and Damon at the bar having a drink together and I smile seeing them at least faking to get along with each other.

"So how have you been Ty?" I smile over at him "I've definitely had better days, it's weird Vicki being gone" "I'm sorry ty that can't be easy" I Feel guilt wash over me knowing exactly where she is. "I guess it was given to happen" he shrugs it off and takes his turn. "How are you? You've been spending a lot of time away from school recently. Matt said you'd moved out too?" "Ah yea, I guess I just needed to take a step back from everything that happened ya know?" He nods understanding and smiles down at me as I take my turn.

We continue small talk while we play a few more games before we decide to call it a night "It was nice hanging out again Ty, we definitely have to do this more often" "yea definitely Rory, give me a text when your home safe ok?" I nod my head and wave off to him before I start walking away. When I'm out of view I sprint to the Boarding house. Stopping suddenly, I heard someone screaming. Rushing over but staying hidden I watch Stefan leave after breaking up with Elena I find Damon sitting on a knocked over stone, his eyes wet with tears. "Damon..." He looks up at me heart broken and drained "What happened" I have never seen him so crushed and hurt he just shakes his head looking down again. I sit beside him and just sit there in silence until he's ready to return to the house.

The next day Stefan is filling me in on what happened yesterday and how he is planning to leave to protect Elena and insists I come with him to stay together and away from growing dangers in mystic falls. "So, any idea of where you'll go?" "I don't know. London, maybe. See some friends." "You don't have any friends, Damon." I but into the brothers conversation. "You're right, Aurora. I only have you." He turns from the window to look at me "So, where are we goin'?" Stefan cuts in this time "We are not going anywhere. Aurora and I are gonna live our lifes as far away from you as possible" Damon walks up to Stefan smirking "But we're a team! We could travel the world together. We could try out for "The Amazing Race"." "Mmmm, that's funny. Seriously, where are you going? Because we are not staying in this town."

The doorbell rings and the three of us glance at each other. Stefan leaves the parlor and opens the front door. Sherif Forbes is there "I'm here to see Damon." stefan looks back at giving a weird look before turning to her "Uh, sure. Ok" Damon makes his way to the door way. "Sheriff. What a surprise." "Sorry to bother you, but we need to talk." "Come in." She enters the house and Damon shuts the door behind her leading her into the Back courtyard "Um, I hope you understand the secrecy. Stefan and Aurora don't know about this yet and I'd like to keep it that way" "Of course, kids are too young to be brought into this." "So, what do you need?" "There's been another attack. A female victim, her throat torn out, completely drained of blood. It fits the pattern." "I'm sorry. I don't understand. I thought we solved that problem when I" He looks behind him before turning around "...staked the blond one."

"I'm thinking she must have turned someone. Or multiple someone's. I don't know." Stefan and I look at each other after listening into there conversation. I'm now angry thinking Damon has fed on someone again. "The story for the town is another animal attack but I'm not sure how long we can keep lying to them. The council is in an uproar. We thought we were past this." "So, uh, what do we do?" "You're the only one who's ever taken on a vampire. We were hoping you could tell us." "Ill be in touch, I have to sort out a few things around here with the kids" He moves his head using it to point back in the direction of the house "But I will let you know. Thank you for coming to me with this." she nods and makes her way back inside to leave out the front door.

Once she's gone I rush over the Damon beating Stefan and push Damon against the door with a handful of his shirt. "What is wrong with you? You killed somebody?" "Get off of me." He gives me a shove easily pushing me off of him makin gme fall onto the ground in a huff "A...don't touch me. B...if I had, I wouldn't have been so obvious about it." he walks past both of us and turns to look at stefan before meeting my eyes "C... There's another vampire in town." "That's impossible." Stefan blurts out. "Obviously not." Damon turns around and starts walking into the parlor. "Then, who could it be?" "Ah, what do we care? We're leaving anyway, right?" "No, I can't leave now, and you know that." Stefan walks over to Damon "How are we supposed to find this person?" "Let the adults handle this, Stefan." He smirks at both of us before walking into the parlor leaving us at the front door. We share a look both feeling conflicted by the news. "You need to talk to Elena Stef" I break the silence and he nods before walking out the front door.

Pulling out my phone calling Caroline while looking over at Damon who is fiddling with the compass we stole. "Hey Care, are you busy?" "No is everything ok? Are you ok?" "Yea I just need your help. Can you meet me please? I'll text you were soon" "Yea sure, see you soon Aurora" I hang up and walk over to Damon. "Come on let go track this newcomer. Caroline can help out, as much as I hate getting her involved, I have no other choice right now" Damon looks at me with a smirk and hands me the compass "well let's meet Caroline then" I sigh pulling my phone out to text her.
