(~Serif's POV~)
"Like this?" I add the exact measurement of flour into the bowl. Mama praises me with a smile and a loving pat on my skull. "Exactly~" I find great excitement from cooking with Mama. Of course I know all of her recipes by heart already but actually crafting it with my own hands is something that I will never forget.
I lean back on my stool and briefly look through the kitchen doorway. Dad is stretched out across the entire couch, sleeping. "Was he always like this? Is he okay?" I ask with narrowed eyes. Naps are quite unusual for our household unless you're sick. I was always sick so I had to sleep, but not because I actually wanted to. "Yes, h-he's c-c-completely fine. Dad l-likes to t-take l-lots of naps. It's h-how you know he's c-comfortable." Mama answers. I still find myself puzzled by his actions. "But why? What's the point of wasting the day when it is the perfect opportunity for one to get many things accomplished? I mean, he could be baking cinnamon rolls with us if he wasn't lazy." Mama sighs with a smile, "Now you s-sound like Blue."
'Because Uncle Sans is right! Dad has an entire night to sleep. He doesn't need to sleep during the day too!'
A realization is soon to contradict my words. As far as I know, Dad is always up late with Mama. Plus, last night he was up dealing with me and my brother too. I start to feel bad for criticizing him.
"Well... I suppose it'll be alright for today.. Since y'know.. Dad does a lot too.." I mumble. I look back to Mama. Her arms are shaking a lot more than they usually do. My confidence and joy quickly turns to fear.
'Is she okay?'
"What's t-t-the n-next thing... O-On the list? I.. I can't remember."
.
"Sugar."
.
"That's.. T-That's.."Mama cuts herself short. She shuts her eyes tightly and grabs onto the countertop. I see her trying to support her weight on it. "Mama?" She could be having a headache or she could be dizzy spell again. I'm not completely sure. My soul feels like it's constricted more and more with each second I go by without her reassurance.
I step off my stool and step closer to her side. I shakily hug myself onto the back of her leg, "Mama, what's wrong? Please tell me." Small heaves start to escape her throat. They gradually get louder. Her chest moves rigidly with each breath. I start to panic.
'Can she breathe?!'
I don't know what could've caused it. She was fine just a second ago! Now her entire body begins to shake. Her legs and arms jerk randomly. All the while, she doesn't say or respond to any of it. Her head suddenly falls forward. She's no longer conscious.
'She's going to fall-'
If I don't do anything, she'll hit her head on the counter which can cause even bigger problems. I have to do something and I only have a few seconds to do so. I forcefully close one of my sockets and spark my magic. Four skeletal hands summon midair to my aid. They grab Mama by her arms and pull her backwards. I shift myself to her back and firmly hug onto her waist. "MAmA! MAMA!" She doesn't wake up. The only thing crowding my mind is the fact that my mom is in danger. My helping hands do what they can to hold her weight as I carefully lower her to the ground. Without full concentration, my magic cuts out and the extra hands disappear shortly after. A loud ringing screams in my skull and I groan from the instant pain in my eye sockets. I have to push through it though. Mama's muscles quickly tense up as she curls up partially. Her hands are very unnaturally bent as she continues to jerk uncontrollably.
'WhAt DO I Do? WHAT DO I DO?!!!'
I can't call emergency services. I don't know any hospitals here in the underground. Even if I did, they wouldn't know how to help her because she's a human. Uncle Sans is possibly the only one who knows what this is and how to help her but he's not even here! In panic, I look to the living room.
