(~Your POV~)

I arrange two blueberry crepes on plates. It's a little messy but so is this morning. My gaze doesn't leave the countertop as I shout, "BOYS! BREAKFAST!" I use my digital watch/phone to check the time.

'We're going to be late.'

I sigh, having to go through this race yet another day.

'Guess I'll open the cafe a little late. No one should notice, right?'

I joke with myself. The cafe is so busy that people line up each morning to get a taste of my recipes. Of course they'll notice. Still, getting Roman to school is priority. I can't have him getting a tardy notice again.

I open my mouth to shout again when Roman teleports into his seat. "wOAh-" He exclaimed as the chair leaned a little too far from the sudden movement. Fortunately, he was able to balance it out before it fell. "Good morning, Mama!" I give him a warning glare with a smirk, "T-Try to be a little quicker next t-time, okay? Now eat your b-breakfast while I go tend to your brother." I slide one of the plates in front of him. The pupils in his sockets soon shift to bright orange stars. "Blueberry crepes!!! My favorite!!!" I hum sweetly and pet his skull as I pass.

'Now, where's Serif?'

I know something's up if he's not here by the first time I call him. I walk down the hall and into the twins' room. The room is neatly organized despite having two ten year old boys living in it. Most of the cleaning is Serif's doing whereas Roman will leave a chaos of scattered toys in his path. To the left of the room is their closet and dresser, along with a single painted toy box. Colorful drawings and family photos cover the walls. To the right is their treehouse themed bunk bed.

Basically it's a bunk bed with a makeshift house loft on top. The sheets on the bed are navy blue with little bones spread across them. Blue built the bunk bed for them a few years ago. He even surprised me with it. It's such a fun element to the room and the boys love it.

I notice Serif is still in bed on the bottom bunk, curled up in a tight ball. I approach and gently put a hand on his skull. He winces, "Mm..M-Mama.." "Good morning, my darling. How are you f-feeling?" I speak softly to him. "I-It hurts.." He mumbles shakily. I feel my heart break for him, even though this is a huge part of his life.

Yes, Serif did inherit Honey's soul deficiency. Thankfully, there are now vaccines to help stabilize the condition. Ultimately, it's a strong antibiotic filled with chemicals and concentrated magic. I don't know how they did it but Blue's friend, a scientist named Undyne, was able to figure it out sometime after Honey passed away. It's saved so many monsters. I can't remember how many nights I wished Papyrus could've lived to see it.

The only problem? It needs to be and only can be taken once a week. It's also quite expensive, especially when he needs it so frequently. The condition is so serious that the soul goes through all the magic in just a couple of days. We're fortunate enough to be able to afford it with the cafe doing so well. Of course, Serif still has his bad days just like Honey did. I look to the nearby calendar on the wall. Today is Tuesday, whereas every Thursday is circled.

I comfort Serif the best I can, stroking his head and back. "Two m-m-more days, Babybones. Then you c-can t-take your medicine. Can you sit up?" He does his best, shakily sitting up and leaning his head into my chest. "As soon as we bring your brother to school, y-you can take some painkillers a-a-and spend some time with me at work. H-How does t-that sound?" Serif slowly nods his head. I smirk and scoop him up, walking back into the kitchen to meet with his brother.

(~Time Skip~)

Slowing the car to a stop at the school drop off, I now turn to Roman.

"Okay Roman, have a good day at school. Make sure you-"
.
"I know, Mama!"
.
"But you didn't let me-"
.
"MaMA!!!"

I smile and lean over to the passenger's seat, cupping a hand around his face and pulling him in close. I press a big kiss on his cheekbone. "Go on, Pumpkin. I love you." His cheeks turn bright orange as he looks away. "I love you too, Mama." Roman unbuckles himself and turns around completely. He stands on his knees to look at his brother in the back seat. Serif has his portable breathing machine beside him with the clear
mask over his face, giving him his little boost of magic to get through the morning. Serif's dull eyes resemble the color of my soul, (soul trait).

"Now Brother, you must remember to tell me all about you and Mama's day at the cafe! Like always! Promise?" Serif gave his brother a smile, "I promise." Seeing his brother happy always made Roman's day. Roman understood from a young age that his twin brother couldn't do as much as him. So, he vowed to help Serif see the positive even in the little things.

He smiled his biggest smile, "Perfect! I'll see you after school!" With that, Roman opened up the car door and jumped out. I adjust my rear view mirror and meet eyes with Serif. "Well, you r-ready?" Serif takes another deep breath and nods happily. I smile back at him and then shift the car out of park.

'Okay, let's do this.'
