(~Your POV + Time Skip ~)

Asgore offers me a cup of tea. I accept it. My nerves are tangled up in knots by this point. I'm still trying to process this. Roman somehow managed to erase everyone's memory of us. Chara hasn't fallen. The monsters haven't escaped the underground. I take a long sip of my tea. The boys have been sleeping in another room down the hall. They're worn out from all the stress.

'How did we get stuck in this mess?'

"Might I ask you a question, Miss Y/N?" Asgore is sitting in a chair by the fireplace. I take a deep breath. "Sure." "Do you wish to bring them with you?" I narrow my gaze.

'What kind of question is that?'

"They're m-my children. T-They go where I-I go." Asgore strokes his beard, continuing, "I see. And you wish to break the barrier? That is the only way they will be able to leave with you. A human may be able to walk through, but the barrier keeps monsters trapped here."

'I.. I never thought about that. Now I have to worry about breaking a magic barrier? Great. That's exactly what I needed to hear.'

I decide to spare the king from my sarcasm. "I guess I-I-I have no o-o-other choice. I-I'm not leaving them. They're all I have left." I start to wonder how Chara did all of this in the first place. Would it really be that simple? I place my cup of tea aside. "Asgore... H-How do we get out of here?"

'If I have to break the barrier, then we need to keep going.'

Asgore's expression hardens with seriousness. He gets up and says nothing, walking to another part of the house. I follow him. He guides me down the stairs and down a long corridor. At the end of the corridor, is a door.

"Your magic far exceeds mine. I know that I cannot force you to stay." Asgore begins. "Though I must warn you. This world does not take kindly to humans. I swore that I'd protect them and yet every one has fallen after going through this door. Think of your children. Would you put them through the loss of their mother?"

I turn to him and place a hand on his shoulder. "I understand y-your w-w-words, Asgore, but I am a human who's v-very sick. I-If I q-quit and s-s-stay here, my children will lose me. I can't put them through that w-without at least t-trying."

"You are decided then." He says. I nod. "Very well. Good luck to you three." And with that, he walked away.

When I came back up the stairs, he was no longer in the house. Likely, he went back into the ruins. I open the bedroom door and wake up the twins. Each one look to me groggily as their pupils flicker to take form. "I'm sorry, m-my darlings. B-But we h-have to keep moving from here." Serif rubs his tired eye sockets, mumbling, "Okay, Mama." Roman stares at me silently. I place a hand on their shoulders and urge them to the door. I hate to wake them. I hate this feeling of being trapped.

'I have no time.'

I took the boys down the same route Asgore had shown me. Soon, we reached the door. What's behind it? I have no clue. I grab ahold of the heavy stone door and push it open. My eyes squint as I'm blinded by white.

A winter wonderland. There's a dirt path with thick walls of evergreen trees on both sides. Each one and the floor itself is covered with snow. Both of the twins rush forward in awe and excitement. It's only natural. They've never seen snow before.

"Brother, LOOK!" Roman exclaims before face planting into it. Serif kicks a little pile of it, almost like how someone would test the water in a pool. I smirk followed by soft laughter. All of my fears seemed to wash away.

"C-Come on, R-Roman. It's time to-" I'm interrupted by a snowball encased in orange magic flying through the air and exploding on my face. I wipe the cold matter off, shivering. Both Serif and Roman enjoy themselves with giggles and laughter. I smile at them, "Oh that's how it is, hm? Well M-Mama's been in m-more s-snowball fights than you. I-I suggest you run." Both boys take off down the path, squealing. I clasp some snow in my hands and run after them, sounding out my most fabricated and evil laugh.

The boys continue to scream and run, laughing in between heavy breaths. I'm close to catching up with them when-

SNAP.

A twig snaps behind me. I stop and whip myself around. No doubt, my magic is stirred up again. The fear comes back. My soul beats heavily as I scan the tree line. I don't see anyone. All the evidence there is would be the snapped branch on the path.

Suddenly, there's a voice behind me. "You're not the kid." I flinch, scream, and throw the snow at whoever's behind me. While they're stunned, I back myself away from them. I need to put as much room between me and them. My eyes glow (s/c). My wings summon behind my back and I stretch them out for intimidation. Both hands are encased with (s/c) fire.

That's when I finally see who it is. The tall skeleton is now fixed on wiping the snow off of his orange hoodie. "Now, now, there's snow reason to get upset. I was just trying to greet a new pal." I feel my heart stop completely. My ability to breathe just turns itself off. I'm stuck staring at him in absolute horror.

There, now staring me down in confusion, stood Papyrus.
