(~Your POV + Time Skip A Few Months~)
It's definitely been a process. Chara, acting as ambassador, had to start from scratch to gain mankind's trust concerning monsters. Honey and Undyne teamed up the day that the barrier was broken. They were able to warn Queen Toriel about soul deficiencies. Thankfully, the Queen was kind and quick to listen. You could tell by the events that followed that she truly cares for the lives of her kingdom. A decree was soon made that monsters would have to be medically cleared before being allowed to leave the Underground. The Queen herself even vowed to stay behind until each and every monster was eventually relocated. She didn't have to. Still, she's kept her promise and is still living in New Home to this day.
Undyne and Honey put their smart minds together to develop a machine that has helped to identify hundreds with soul deficiencies. If a monster has no soul deficiency detected, they are given a pass to move to the surface when they wish to. If a monster with a deficiency is identified, they are designated to a group. Once it's their group's turn to leave the underground, they are brought to the surface and started on Undyne's injections. Each monster's health is then monitored daily by Undyne and a group of volunteering doctors. Even some of the human doctors on the surface have chosen to join their cause. Each monster's dosage is then adjusted until they can be medically cleared as stable enough to live without everyday monitoring. It usually takes up to a few weeks to complete one group. As one group is cleared, another gets the chance to move to the surface and start their process. This has been the way it's happened for a few months now. With the Queen's help and guidance, everyone in the Underground has been so patient.
Unfortunately, this illness still cannot be fully cured. On the other hand, we helped prevent the painful deaths of so many monsters that didn't have a chance in the last timeline.
'Today is the day.'
I take a deep breath. Next, I fold the last of Serif and Roman's clothes before neatly placing them into a cardboard box. "Honey, r-remember that you have to p-pick up your sock." I remind him. My bonehead for a husband packed up half of one box for the day before sprawling out across his bed.
'I suppose that is something.'
His eyes are closed for relaxation but he's not asleep. "I'll get to it at some point, Beautiful." He reassures me. "While y-you're at it, y-you m-may want to look for the matching one. I did the l-laundry but I can't find it a-anywhere." As I'm packing, I notice him staring at me briefly every now and then. Blue and I have tackled most of the packing throughout the last few days. The house looks a lot more empty now.
'It's going to be a long process bringing all of our stuff to the surface.'
From Honey's open door, I hear the echo of a small knock downstairs. "Blue, he's here!" I yell. Blue is packing the last of his things in his bedroom so he should have heard me. Papyrus opens his eyes again, mumbling, "A visitor?" "Mhm. T-They've mostly been t-talking through text lately b-b-but Blue's been waiting for the perfect time to invite him over. We've all b-been s-so busy."
'Also, Blue wasn't sure if Honey would be ready to meet his brother-in-law.'
I lean through the doorway as Sans comes running out of his room. His eyes are completely focused on the door. Both twins rush out of the room and after him. They giggle and squeal excitedly. Sans rushes down the stairs and swings the front door open. Their eyes locked on each other instantly. Dream soon throws himself into Sans' arms. Blue laughs joyfully and hugs him tightly. I see Blue hold his lover's waist and then spin him around from excitement. Serif and Roman show the same rejoicing spirit by squealing and circling the two. It's the cutest thing. I didn't even notice until now that Pap got out of bed. He is standing beside me in seconds.
