Chapter 11: Unveiling the Truth
The lavish charity gala was in full swing when Y/n spotted her long-lost friend, Liya. Excited, she made her way to greet her, but something about Liya's proximity to Jungkook sent a chill down her spine. Liya casually sidled up to Jungkook, standing close enough to fuel the cameras.
“Make sure you get my best angle,” Liya said, smiling confidently for the press.
Jungkook's expression hardened. Without a word, he stepped away from Liya, grasped Y/n’s hand firmly, and faced the media.
“Ladies and gentlemen, meet my wife, Mrs. Y/n Jeon,” he announced, his voice steady and deliberate.
Liya’s smile faltered, and for the first time, Y/n noticed the tension between them. Before she could process what had just happened, Jungkook called his assistant, Mr. Kang.
“Make sure Jungwoo goes home safely with my parents,” Jungkook instructed, his tone leaving no room for negotiation.
Y/n felt her heart sink. It didn’t take long for her to piece things together. Her friend Liya wasn’t just Jungkook’s ex-wife; she was also the mother of his child. Tears filled Y/n’s eyes, but she held them back until they reached home.
---
That evening, the silence between them was deafening. Jungkook escorted Y/n inside, but before she could voice her questions, he cut her off.
“Not now, Y/n. We’ll talk tomorrow,” he said curtly before retreating to his room, leaving Y/n alone with her thoughts.

The Next Morning
Y/n prepared breakfast as usual, her mind racing. She had cried herself to sleep, and her red, swollen eyes betrayed her inner turmoil. When Jungkook walked into the dining room, he immediately noticed her condition.
“Did Jungwoo leave for school?” he asked, his voice softer than usual.
“Yes,” Y/n replied quietly, not meeting his gaze. “But his mood was off.”
Jungkook nodded but knew there was more she wanted to ask. He had to address the storm brewing between them.
“Let’s go out after breakfast,” he said, surprising her.
---
At the Park
Jungkook led Y/n to a quiet spot near the lake, where they sat on a bench. For a moment, the only sound was the rustling of leaves and the gentle lapping of water. Then Jungkook began to speak.
“When you left for abroad, everything changed for me. You were my best friend, Y/n. My protector. Do you remember how you used to defend me from those bullies?” he asked, his tone filled with nostalgia.
Y/n nodded, tears brimming in her eyes.
“When you left, I felt abandoned. I hated you for leaving me behind, even though I knew deep down you had no choice. I ignored your calls and blamed you for our friendship falling apart.”
“Jungkook, I never stopped caring about you,” Y/n said softly.
“But I didn’t see that then,” Jungkook admitted. “I met Liya after that. She was kind, fun, and for a while, she filled the void you left. I thought I loved her. I introduced her to my parents, but they disapproved. They always wanted me to marry you, not her.”
Y/n looked at him, her heart breaking with each word.
“My parents’ disapproval only fueled my anger. I married Liya in secret, defying them. For a while, it felt like I’d proven everyone wrong. But then everything fell apart. After Jungwoo was born, Liya revealed her true self. She didn’t want to be a mother, Y/n. She left me and our son for her ex.”
Y/n covered her mouth, horrified. “Jungkook… I’m so sorry.”
He shook his head. “It was my mistake. I married her out of spite, and I paid the price. After she left, I thought I’d never let anyone close to me again. But then, I heard you were coming back, and for a brief moment, I felt hope. Until I discovered you and Liya were friends.”
“What? How did you know?” Y/n asked, stunned.
“I saw photos of you together,” Jungkook confessed. “I assumed the worst—that you were involved in her betrayal. So when our parents arranged our marriage, I went along with it, but I couldn’t trust you. I thought you’d betray me too.”
Y/n’s voice trembled with emotion. “Jungkook, how could you think I’d ever do something like that? You hated me, but didn’t you trust me even a little?”
Jungkook lowered his head, ashamed. “I was blinded by anger. I didn’t realize how much I was projecting my pain onto you. I’m sorry, Y/n.”
She sighed, her shoulders sagging. “I never wanted to leave you, Jungkook. And I’m not Liya. I would never hurt you like that.”
“I know that now,” Jungkook said quietly. “I don’t expect you to forgive me right away, but I hope we can start over. as a friend because we never saw each other as a little very

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the lake, Y/n looked at Jungkook, searching for sincerity in his eyes. For the first time since their forced marriage, she saw a glimmer of the boy she once knew—the one who used to trust her without question.
“Starting over won’t be easy,” she said.
“I’ll do whatever it takes,” Jungkook replied.
