Chapter 13: The  Battle

The sun had barely risen, but the Jeon household was already steeped in tension. Jungkook adjusted his cufflinks in front of the mirror, his expression carefully blank. Today’s press conference felt like walking into a battlefield, with the media armed to tear apart every aspect of his life.

Jungwoo sat at the dining table, cheerfully eating his cereal, his feet swinging under the chair. He seemed blissfully unaware of the storm brewing around him.

“Appa,” Jungwoo piped up, his voice full of innocence, “will Y/n noona come with us today?”

Jungkook paused, his hands tightening slightly as he thought of Y/n. She hadn’t returned after the previous day’s revelations and was likely still at her father’s house. Would she stand by him, or had he driven her too far away?

“She’ll come,” Jungkook replied after a moment, forcing a smile. “Y/n noona always comes through for us, doesn’t she?”

Jungwoo nodded enthusiastically, but Jungkook’s heart was heavy. He wasn’t sure if his words were more for his son’s comfort or his own.

Y/n’s Decision

Meanwhile, at her father’s house, Y/n paced the living room, her mind in turmoil. She could hear her father rustling the newspaper behind her, but her focus was elsewhere.

“Y/n,” her father’s calm voice broke through her thoughts, “are you going to the conference?”

Y/n stopped pacing and turned to face him, her expression conflicted. “I don’t know, Dad. I’m not sure if my being there will help or make things worse.”

Her father folded the newspaper and set it aside, his tone firm. “Jungkook needs you. You’re his wife, and if you want this marriage to work, you have to show the world—and him—that you’re standing by his side.”

Y/n hesitated. “But what if—”

“No ‘what ifs,’” her father interrupted. “You’re stronger than this, Y/n. I’ve seen you face challenges before. This is just another one. Don’t let the media or anyone else intimidate you.”

Taking a deep breath, Y/n nodded. “You’re right. I’ll go.”

The Press Conference

The conference room buzzed with activity as reporters jostled for the best positions, cameras clicking incessantly. Jungkook stepped onto the stage, his face calm and composed despite the chaos. The weight of the situation bore heavily on his shoulders, but he was determined to face it head-on.

“Thank you all for being here,” Jungkook began, his voice steady. “I’m here to address the rumors and clarify the situation regarding my personal life. Yes, I was previously married to Liya, but that chapter of my life is over. My wife now is Y/n Jeon, and I stand by her completely.”

Before he could continue, a reporter interrupted.

“But Mr. Jeon, isn’t it true that you and Ms. Liya never officially signed divorce papers? Doesn’t that make her your legal wife?”

Jungkook’s jaw tightened slightly, but his voice remained firm. “The divorce process is underway and will be finalized soon. Legally and emotionally, my marriage to Liya is over. My focus is on my family, including my wife, Y/n.”

The questions didn’t stop there.

“Mr. Jeon, what about your son, Jungwoo? Who will take his custody? Does Y/n accept him as part of her life?”
