Chapter 33: The Chimera Crawl at Night

"YN! YN! Wake up!"

While he felt like he was on the cusp of falling asleep, YN heard the familiar, soft, and sweet voice of Yunyun now shouting for him after the sound of the guest room door flying open.

"Wha-huh?"

Jolted back into consciousness, his eyes quickly met Yunyun's as she ran to his bedside. About to ask what her alarmed entrance into the guest room that had been cleared out for him was about, Yunyun wasted no time in doing so.

"Bukkororii-san woke my father up banging on the front doors, and he said Megumin, Darkness, and Aqua were running through the village asking for help. Apparently Kazuma was kidnapped by the Demon King's General!

Tearing the covers from his bed, Yunyun pulled YN's drowsy, just-about-asleep self to stand.

"I'll help you get your armor on! We can leave quicker, together that way!"

With his helmet in one hand, and his splintmail boots in the other, Yunyun was clearly determined to get ready as quickly as possible. Not one to protest her or the reasoning behind it though, YN cooperated as well as he could, and before long, the two were out the door, ready to reconvene for this impromptu hostage recovery.

Meeting up with Sokkotto and Bukkororii, the two led Yunyun and YN to where Megumin, Aqua, and Darkness had located Kazuma.

"Here? Why here?"

With no one able to answer his question, Kazuma's Party, along with the other two Crimson Demons entered inside the structure YN and Yunyun had been gawking at just earlier that day. It was now that they waited here, outside the Mysterious Facility as it was referred to.

"A-Are you sure it's a b-better idea to stay outside here?"

Yunyun, asking this of YN, did so with a bit of nervous stutter to her words. It wasn't like her to second guess him, but given the circumstances, she was curious as to why he had implored her to stay behind with him and remain outside while the others had gone in, looking for Kazuma.

"I think so. Luring everyone into a dead-end to have more forces come in to trap those who go inside is a tactic I could see the Demon King General employing. If not, if it's as much a modern factory on the inside as it looks on the outside, there won't be too much room on the inside."

"Like a dungeon, it could get too crowded to fight."

Rationalizing the logic's end point, YN nodded to Yunyun now as she understood why he had asked this.

"There's already the five of them going inside, that should be plenty."

"T-True."

Admittedly, Yunyun was worried. Never before had a Demon King General made it this far into the village from what she'd heard, and it seemed even more strange they had taken a hostage.

Recalling the lore of this place they stood outside of though, Yunyun voiced her newest concern now.

"Hey, do you think that General is after the weapon that's supposed to dwell here? The Mage-Killer."

His own eyes going wide at that prospect, YN bit his lip in frustration.

"That's gotta be part of it. There's no way it's a coincidence the General chose this place to take a hostage if that legend is true."

Unsure of what they could really do to confirm that or not, YN knew it was still a tactical determent to go inside in pursuit, especially if there was still the possibility of a trap.
