Chapter 21: Just One Hit

"Light of Sabre!"

Turning another Giant Toad into a pile of guts and gore, Yunyun was laying waste to every slimey foe that seemed to burrow its way out of the cow pasture, one by one.

Off to the side, where YN was doing double duty, protecting the likes of both Cecily and Yunyun, another Giant Toad surfaced nearby. Giving him only a brief look with its bulbous eyes, it launched its tongue like a bullet at YN.

"Deflection!"

Batting away the tongue with his shield, its elastic structure was launched back at the foe with an even greater force.

*WACK*

Knocking the amphibian out cold, Yunyun finished it off.

"Lightning Strike!"

Fried to a crisp with that, this Toad was defeated, but just as quickly taking its place—

"—Ha!"

To Yunyun's flank, another Toad had appeared, and shooting its tongue at her, YN met the appendage with a swing of his sword.

"Light of Sabre!"

Obliterated again by her magic, this Toad fell too.

"That's the fifteenth Toad in just this pasture! This seems really unnatural."

Surprised to find out that the Toads they were seeking were just below them this entire time, the trio could hardly believe there were this many.

"This really is bizarre. We've never come across so many in one spot... "

With a break in the fighting, YN looked down at his slime covered sword and shield.

"Ewww..."

At his disgust, Cecily seemed ready to be of use finally.

"Here, let me see them."

Gesturing for him to hold the weapons towards her, the priestess held her hand up.

"Create Water."

Dousing the equipment in water, the slime of the Toad was washed away.

Unsure if the fighting was truly over though, the ground began to shake again, this time originating over by the edge of pasture, by the treeline.

"Here comes another!"

Erupting from the ground came another Toad, but one not like the others.

Much bigger, and purple in color with black markings versus the green, blue, or yellow they had been facing, this Toad had several healed scars on its skin.

Letting out one echoing croak, it launched its tongue from a much greater distance than any other Toads before it had.

"Cecily-san!"

Aimed directly at her, it was only in the nick of time did YN block this attack.

"Deflection!"

Swatting the tongue back at its owner, at this distance, the Toad dodged it, and let its appendage ricochet back into its own mouth.

"Damn it, this one is strong! Yunyun! Don't show it any mercy!"

As YN did his best to warn the Crimson Demon girl of this monster's defense, she was already readying her attack.

"Light of Sabre!"

Casting out her magic, it met its target, until—

*BOUNCE*

The magic was repulsed with ease.
