Feeling Left Out

I see them laughing, side by side,
But here I am, trying to hide.
I'm standing close, but not too near,
Pretending that I just don't care.

They share their jokes, their secrets, too,
And I'm just here, feeling blue.
I try to join, to find a way,
But the words don't come, so I just stay.

It's like I'm here, but not quite there,
A shadow in the open air.
They don't mean to push me out,
But it still hurts, no doubt.

I wish I knew how to fit in,
To be a part of the group again.
But every time, I'm left behind,
Wishing for a place to find.
