Fresh Starts

I sat around in the common room reading a book from the library that I had taken a liking to. It was complicated and all about potions that we'd get to learn about in sixth year. Draco and I were doing quite well; I've actually grown very fond of him he isn't as big of a jerk as I used to think. As for Blaise and Pansy they haven't talked to me at all, the only things they said were 'Hi' and that's all. I really miss them, they were good friends especially Pansy. I shoved a jelly slug into my mouth and chewed on it with a bit of difficulty. "What are you reading?" I heard a familiar deep voice asked. I slowly raised my head out of the book and looked into huge chocolate brown eyes.

"Just a book about potions," I meekly answered still surprised at what I see.

"Is it interesting?" The dark skinned boy said sitting down next to me.

"Yeah it is pretty interesting," I said laying the book down on my lap. "How have you been?"

"Well," He said slowly as if he was pondering on how to answer. "I could be better, but I'm okay I guess." I felt a guilt pang in my chest, there was hurt written all over his face. "I can't really say the same about Pansy. She's a wreck waiting to fall apart."

"Oh..." I sadly looked down.

"She misses you," he said quietly. "You know that right? She told me."

"She does?" I said hopeful that I could salvage whatever is left of our friendship. He nodded with a look that made him look like he was lost in thought.

"I miss talking to you too," He said.

"So do I," I replied.

"We could start over if you want," he suggested.

"Really?" I asked a little too happily making him smirk. He nodded and took one of my jelly slugs. I hugged him quickly without thinking I pulled away smiling like an idiot. "I'm sorry about everything I won't screw up anymore." I was glad I had one of my friends back, although someone didn't seem too pleased with the idea of me hugging Blaise. Draco calmly made his way over to us but by the way his fists were clenched I could tell he wasn't as calm as he was acting. Then I remember what Blaise said, Pansy actually missed me, maybe I could go mend things now! I grabbed my book and jumped up off of the couch surprising Blaise and Draco by my sudden movement. I quickly made my way to the door.

"Where are you going?" Draco asked curious.

"To find Pansy of course," I smiled feeling lighthearted and happy for once in a long time.

"Can I get a hug first?" Draco asked almost in a pouting tone, almost. I smiled and rolled my eyes. I walked back and gave him a hug. "Thank you," he said kissing my forehead.

"You're welcome," I laughed, I knew exactly what he was doing right now but I still wanted to hug him anyways. "Now if you don't mind I have a friendship to save!" Draco laughed and loosened his arms around me. And with that I ran off to find my friend.

--Draco's P.O.V—

I stretched my arms and yawned, I was tired I stayed up too late studying for Transfiguration. I could partially see Y/N as I walked down; I smiled to myself and got excited. I was suddenly less excited as I saw her basically leap on Blaise. Blaise was a good guy, but right now I wanted to punch him so hard. I walked towards them clenching my fists but trying to keep calm. Suddenly Y/N jumped up and giddily walked towards the door. "Where are you going?" I asked curiously.

"To find Pansy of course," she smiled widely. It was a long time since I've seen her so happy.

"Can I have a hug first?" I pretended to pout, I hated seeing other people act like this but for some reason I get all crazy like this when it's Y/N. I would just cuddle her all day if she would allow me to. She rolled her eyes at me laughing her adorable laugh and she walked over to me throwing her arms around my neck. I wrapped my arms tightly around her waist and pulled her closer. I kissed her forehead, "Thank you." I loosened my grip rather reluctantly wishing I could hug her longer.

"You're welcome," She laughed. "Now if you don't mind I have a friendship to save!" She said running off to the door again. I smiled to myself she was amazing in her own way, I loved it. When I heard the door closed I turned to Blaise, who was still sitting on the couch.

"Nice show," he said knowingly, he had caught on to my act and how I was trying to make him jealous.

"Don't hug her again," I said glaring at him. "I know that's being possessive and selfish but don't." He raised his brow, seeming amused by my attitude.

"Jealous Draco?" He said cockily. "Getting nervous she might leave you for me?" My blood boiled at his statement and it took every ounce of me not to hex him, I didn't let him see that though I keep a stone expression.

"What makes you think that you could get Y/N so easily?" I shot back.

He smirked, "The fact that at the Yule Ball I almost kissed her and she didn't even try to run away." His words shot me, I felt as if I had been hit by a train at least six times.

"You're lying," I said wanting to know that it was all a lie.

"Why don't you ask her yourself?" He said. For once in my life I was terrified and my hands started to shake. I began to think stupid thoughts and I became insecure. I Draco Malfoy, Slytherin Prince, was insecure and scared. The thought of losing Y/N was unbearable.

"I will ask her." I said trying to keep composure.

"I'm sure you've already noticed but I've taken quite a liking to Y/N." Blaise said looking down. "I know she's with you, but all you have to do is slip up once and she'll be mine." He threatened and stood up and walked to me so we were face to face.

"I never slip up Zabini I can assure you that," I said.

"We'll see about that." Blaise raised a brow, he held out his hand to me. "Let the games begin." I turned on my heels and walked out to look for Y/N. I needed ask her things... He couldn't really have almost kissed her right? Damn Zabini...
