The choir's voices fill the Great hall. Flitwick gracefully conducts a group of fifth years. I sit near the ends of the table distancing myself from the group of Slytherins. I rub my hands together nervously, I look up at Draco who sat on the other side of the table, I thought he looked terrible a couple days earlier but now he looked ten times worse. He looks towards the gothic glass of the main window, eying the pulsating light; an ambient and ominous plays across the shimmering surface. I look at my forearm; the small inkling of my mark peeks out of my sleeve and moves as if it were almost alive. I feel sick in my stomach knowing exactly what it means.

Our gaze meets and he silently pushes himself off of the bench. I quickly follow in suit, looking back at the window one last time watching the gathering storm. We keep to the shadows gliding through several corridors. The choir echoes eerily mingling with the giggles of two tall figures in a dark corner. We slip by them unnoticed, like a ghost.

The double doors to the room of requirement form fading into place on the empty wall. I pull one side open as he enters through the other side. The room is dense with shadow. Strange slashes of light cast on the tall piles of hidden items. Draco walks ahead of me, a shadow within the shadows. He pulls the tapestry from the Vanishing Cabinet, steps back. He stares at the monolith before him; he looks down in deep thought, his hands shaking. "You don't have to do this," I said quietly, gripping my wand. Only yesterday did he tell me exactly what he was doing with the cabinet. I didn't fully understand the weight of what was going on till now; everything just started to seem so real.

"There isn't any other option you know that," He replies and shakily raises his wand to the cabinet, chanting eerily. The surface of the cabinet glimmers, atremble in the light. Almost alive. He stops looking down, his eyes haunted and he quickly turns on his heel leaving. The light plays within the cabinet. Movements of shadows flicker within, coalesce. The cabinet's door opens revealing Bellatrix. Greyback, and a few of her 'friends'. Bellatrix steps into the light, glances around and grins.
"Lovely night isn't it Y/n?" She says, her voice making me sick. I remain silent trying to keep a stoic expression; she twists her lips crossing her arms. "I must apologize," She said mockingly. "I would've stopped for a hello last we saw each other but I was a bit busy."
"I noticed," I hiss at her.
"Oh and I am truly sorry about the little run in you had with Greyback," She smiles wide her eyes crazed. The lack of light made her look terrifying.
"Neither of us have the time for small talk and lies," I clench my fists thinking of the burrow ablaze the flames crawling high. She merely looks me up and down, utterly amused in some sickening way. She, and her followers push pass me and maneuver towards the door, I follow them reluctantly dodging a few small 'avalanches' caused by Greyback's careless stride.
Bellatrix at the front of the group makes quick turns here and there knowing the castle like the back of her hand, hard to believe someone like her used to be a student here. Then again Voldemort came from this very school too, walked the same corridors we walk.
We swiftly climb the twisted stairs leading to the Astronomy tower. I struggle to keep up, my feet heavily pounding on the metal surface. I hear the muffled voices of Draco and Dumbldore, their gait slows and Bellatrix swings the door to the top of the tower open. And we file in, Dumbledore's wand casted on the floor, Dumbledore himself standing straight relaxed as if we're all here for a midnight stroll or something.

"Look what we have 'ere," Bellatrix says a malicious smirk play at her lips. "Dumbledore, wandless and alone, cornered in his own castle. Well done, Draco." She walks to Draco's side proudly. Dumbledore scans the group and I feel a rush of guilt and embarrassment when he spots me. His eyes go back and forth between Draco and I, sadly but not in a disappointed way more in pity.

"Good evening, Bellatrix. I think introductions are in order." Dumbledore says his voice is willowy and his tone is polite.

"Love to, Albus. But I'm afraid we're on a bit of a tight schedule." She says casually and leans to Draco. "Do it." His wand rises once again. His eyes are red rimmed and his knuckles were white from holding his wand so tightly.
"He doesn't have the stomach. Like his father. Let me finish him, in my own way." Greyback strides closer.

"No!" Bellatrix shoots him a warning glare. "The Dark Lord was clear. The boy's to do it. Go on, Draco. Now!" Once more Draco raises his wand, his hand trembling.

"No" Snape glides into view.

"Severus..." Dumbledore watches him come closer.

"Well, look who's here. Hogwarts own Defense against the Dark Arts teacher. Come to see the slaughter?" Bellatrix chimes and I completely grow weak hearing her call it a 'slaughter' so casually. My eyes sting with tears that I violently wipe away with my sleeve cuff. I don't want to be here, I don't want to be a death eater, I don't want anything to do with this, it's all unfair. Why does all of this have to happen? Why did we have to get dragged into this mess?

"Severus... please." Dumbledore said his eyes sag in the corners wearily showing his age.

"I gave my word. I made a vow..." Snape said monotonously. Snape's arm rises and my heart was in my throat pulsing at a quick rate. "Avada Kedavra!" A jet of green light hits Dumbledore squarely in the chest. For a second he hangs, suspended upon the ramparts, and then... the night swallows him. A cry of rage echoes from below was and through the grate I see the cry came from Harry. His face red with anger and his gaze locks on me, a look of betrayal etches into his face and he turns his gaze to Snape. Bellatrix raises her wand to the sky and a deafening blast shakes the castle, the clouds explode with grim like mutating into a SKULL. As the Death Eaters flee, Snape's arm drops limply to his side.

"You can no longer stay here." Snape looks at the both of us. I mindlessly make my way to the door and lean in against the arch for support. Draco remains where he was, stunned, and stares at the empty place where Dumbledore stood only seconds before. Snape takes him by the scruff of the neck, forces him through the door, giving my shoulder a hard push to make me move. Snape leads us down the spiraling staircase, Bellatrix cackling and shrieking in sheer delight of what happened.

Snape leads on, his face a mask as we round a corner, students in pajamas and robes peer at the emerald sky, then turn, stare curiously at us not knowing what had just happened. Snape sweeps past wordlessly, Draco averts his eyes, Bellatrix leers at a tiny first year, and I scan the faces seeing Adaline's doe eye's glued to the clouds in the night sky in fear.

An Auror hears us draw close and turns towards us raising his wand, Snape sends a spiraling hex towards him before he could do anything, completely knocking him off his feet falling back like a ragdoll. Bellatrix lags, then steps to the towering doors of the Hall, peering upward, past the floating candles to the vaulted ceiling, solemn as a church. Raising her wand, she sends a fiery bolt toward the grand window opposite. It explodes and I yelp as a strong blast of cold air sweeps the room extinguishing the candles. I grip my sleeves and glare at Bellatrix who simply grins like a mad child.

We race on with the others across a lower courtyard. Draco slows next to me, glancing upward, watching the students come to the windows and peering out at the sky. They look like ghosts in their nightclothes. "Draco! Draco!" Bellatrix yells. "They'll kill you if you stay." He looks towards his aunt like a deer on the road just waiting to be hit.

"Malfoy!" I grip his shoulder and give him a rough shake snapping him out of his daze. "Come on," I shout, my voice cracking being tight and dry. We push on running towards Hagrids. Suddenly, Snape pulls up and looks back. I turn to see what's stopping him; not too far back Harry is sprinting toward Snape.

"Go on," Snape shouts at us. Just then a giant fireball erupts into the sky. I wheel and see Bellatrix and the others silhouettes against the flames. Draco stands paralyzed, eyes wide with horror.

"No," I clamp a hand over my mouth. "No! Hagrid!" I belt towards the hut but Draco grabs my arm yanking me away from the blazing hut. "Let go!" I shriek trying to wriggle my wrist free.

"We need to get out of here now!" He yells at me and drags me towards the tree line, I struggle to free my wrist but he holds on tighter till we reach the edge of the school grounds I rub my wrist and watch Snape and Bellatrix join, me, Draco, and Greyback. Without a word to each other we follow Snape farther.

I look back one last time at Hogwarts, my home away from home for six years. I try to remember my first year here, I remember imagining being a seventh year and leaving Hogwarts, meeting my parents at Kingcross. They'd be proud of me for passing all my OWLs, we'd celebrate, my brother would come visit and tell me about the creatures he worked with and give me some sort of exotic gift he got from a friend of a friend. Now I'm leaving as a traitor to my home, knee deep in lies and misdeeds.

A light weight rests on my shoulder and I look away from the castle. "The Auror's will be looking for you soon," Snape said shadows cast on his long face.

"Where are we going," I ask miserably and Snape remains silent walking ahead.

"Stupid girl, there's only one other place you can go," Bellatrix sneers having heard my question. I look at her, twisting my lips in confusion. Where else could I go? I didn't know this far into this cursed plan; I supposed they didn't think it necessary for me to know much. "Malfoy Manor," She hisses as if it were obvious. I would argue, I don't want to be around these death eaters any longer but then the harsh reality is. I'm one of them, I can't avoid it, I no longer belong anywhere else.
