Four
THIS IS NOT WHAT I thought my day would turn out! Getting kidnapped in broad daylight? Now that's a good headline in front of a tabloid.
Warren tried squirming out of the strong grips of the masked men who kidnapped him, yet he failed miserably. In fact, their hold became tighter, and the pain around his arms tripled.
Taking a trip down memory lane, Warren never saw this coming and how fast these people executed their plan. Under the guise of a mailman, one of the kidnappers managed to slip past Warren's front desk and security. Once inside his office, the mailman revealed himself—taking Warren by surprise—and overpowered him easily.
After the kidnapper secured Warren's mouth with a gag—so he wouldn't be able to scream—the kidnapper dragged him to the emergency exit built on his floor and took him to the parking lot, where the other kidnappers were waiting patiently.
Warren almost tripped when the kidnapper, holding his bound wrists, pulled him harshly. "Pick up the pace or we would have to haul you unconscious into the van."
Warren didn't want to find out how that kidnapper would make him unconscious, but he was sure it wasn't going to be painless. Also, Warren didn't want to acquire any grave injuries, so he's trying to play safe... for now.
Gradually, the numbness his body was feeling started to radiate to all different locations: his wrists, the tight grip on his arms, and both corners of his mouth.
Warren closed his eyes in annoyance as he realized he let himself get entangled with another problem. His father would surely be disappointed with him again.
However, what comes after that annoyance is a feeling that Warren despises the most. He felt his stomach churning and his heart hammering hard inside his chest.
Warren tried ignoring the deep-seated fear that was eating his entire system, but the thoughts running inside his mind weren't allowing him to.
What's going to happen to me once they get me out of the empire?
Are they going to kill me? Use me to blackmail my father so they could pressure him and make him do things he didn't want to do in the first place?
But would father even look for me? He clearly told me to be careful, but I failed. I was careless.
Due to Warren's intense internal conflict, he didn't notice that he stopped walking all of a sudden. The kidnappers holding Warren had to stop and check on him to see if their captive was okay.
Warren's breathing turned shallow as the turmoil inside his mind started to get worse by the minute.
I hate this... I hate not being able to do something and defend myself in situations that pose danger to my well-being.
I always have to rely on my bodyguards to save me, which is kind of suck, but I don't have any choice since I don't know how to fight.
It's been such a long time since I felt this powerless. The last time I felt like this was when my mother was on her deathbed.
"Oy!"
Warren snapped out of his reverie and looked up. He swallowed the lump in his throat when he saw a huge man towering over him. The man was wearing a mask, but his eyes and lips were shown, and Warren could see from the man's glaring eyes that he's not someone to mess with.
The man instantly saw fear in Warren's brown eyes, making him feel delighted. The man was enjoying the torment he's causing Warren.
"Bilisan mo sa paglalakad kung ayaw 'mong mabungi ng wala sa oras." Matapang nitong banta at binatukan pa si Warren nang malakas.
