IN THE MIDST OF a sunny but breezy day, the match between Red Archers and Archery Academy has finally taken its spot on the Philippine Archery Competition. The first match will be against each academy's recurve team. Engaging on the field, the Archery Academy's recurve team consisted of Riley, David, and Niko.

Before the match started, both teams prepared for 15 minutes. On David's side of the tent, he and his team were doing some regular stretching exercises.

Stretching his shoulders, David silently watched the enemy's recurve team. David saw a scrawny guy, whom he assumed was a part of the Red Archers' recurve team, nudge another archer.

David narrows his eyes at them, observing their body language. Both men turned their heads in his direction, and David immediately locked eyes with them.

It wasn't David's intention to provoke the other team. David just wanted to observe them, but when he saw them glaring at him, he just gave into the inevitable.

David arched his eyebrow at the two men, and his blue eyes shone with challenge. Sige nga, lumapit ka dito. Papangahan talaga kita.

David continued to hold his ground and battle the enemy team with the same intense gaze. David was one stubborn asshole, so he doesn't see himself backing away anytime soon. However, that all changed when a hand landed at the back of David's head, almost making his head get detached from the rest of his body.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, Ladrico?" David knew that voice from every corner of his brain.

Rubbing the back of his head, he slowly turned his body around.

"Coach," he drawls, smiling from ear to ear. "Didn't see you there."

"Why the hell are you glaring at Ramon?" Coach Iven said, throwing daggers in his direction.

"Ramon?" he asked with a frown. "That's the twink's name?"

Riley and Niko snorted simultaneously after they heard what David said.

"Dude! Shut up!" Tumatawang sabi ni Riley pero agad din iyon natigil nang makita niya ang masasamang titig ng Coach nila sa kanya.

"Please, Ladrico... not today," Coach said, his voice a little tense as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. "We can't afford to have chaos right now, especially when Mr. Summers and his son are going to watch our match today."

"Wait, what?"

"Why do you look so surprised? I emailed you all last night about it." Coach Iven said gruffly, and his eyebrows were pulled tight together.

Shit. I didn't read it. "You did?"

David released a nervous laugh when Coach Iven stalked towards him, leaving a heavy trail of footsteps behind him. Before Coach Iven could get his hands on his troublesome student, David turned his heels around and bolted away from their tent.

"Ladrico!"

"Comfort room lang ako, Coach! Nature calls!" And David was out of sight in a flash.

Iven shook his head disapprovingly but didn't bother to chase his student. He turns back to their tent and barks out his orders to his other students.

"Continue with your stretching and warming up. I'll meet Mr. Summers and his son at the entrance," Coach said to everyone before he walked in the opposite direction of where David went.

Meanwhile, David took a turn on one of the bleachers and hid himself on the side. He wiped the sweat that formed on his forehead. Breathing heavily, he poked his head out in the open to see if their coach followed him, but there was no sign of him.
