SEPTEMBER AIR shrouds the entire city of Makati. As the night deepens, the cold intensifies. Glowing lights from the streetlamp—distance was approximately ten meters apart—were currently illuminating the entire avenue.

It was a quiet night, a rare moment inside the big city that was known for its bustling streets. However, one establishment appears to be doing the exact opposite. Inside the private restaurant was the whole Archery Academy team, and each member had a conversation of their own, including Coach Iven and the other managers.

Among the sea of voices, one person was silently trying to enjoy his own company. No one dared to engage in a conversation with Warren, afraid they'd end up on his bad side, nor had Warren taken the first step in socializing with others.

First, Warren was too exhausted to talk. Second, he would rather be someplace else than this rowdy restaurant. Third, how would he be able to move freely if David's sharp gaze was burning a hole in the side of his face?

Warren released a weary breath when he couldn't take David's palpable displeasure anymore. "Can you please stop staring at me?"

David raised a brow at Warren. "No. What are you doing here?"

"Eating."

"Answer me like that again, and I'll throttle you against that wall," David growled, his fingers snapping the chopstick he was holding in half. "I have very little patience with you, so don't fucking test me, Summers."

Instead of being frightened by David's threats, Warren was more aroused. He wondered how it would feel to have David's long fingers wrapped around his throat, painfully digging into his skin until he was gasping for air.

Warren shakes his head in defiance and ignores the shiver that ran across his spine. Ahh, fuck this attraction.

"Are you going to answer me or do I have to force the words right out of your mouth?" David asked darkly.

Warren swallowed hard, and another sigh escaped him. "I guess... I had a change of mind."

David scoffed at him. "You? Had a changed of mind? I highly doubt that."

Warren watched as David drank his own bottle of beer. His eyes tracked the movement of David's Adam's apple. Unconsciously, Warren had bitten his bottom lip, wishing he could use his tongue to chase the movement of the protrusion in David's neck.

Warren shifted uncomfortably on his seat when the fabric on his crotch area became painfully stretched. He mumbled a silent curse as he tried to rein in his own urges and stop himself from sporting a massive boner.

"If I have to guess, your father must have ordered you to join us. His reason? Probably have something to do with the concept of socializing with others," David continued, completely oblivious to the predicament Warren was in.

Warren had to mask his surprise to show that he wasn't taken aback by David's words, but he was already too late.

David had already seen right through his disguise.

"And by the look on your face, it seems like I was right." David put down his beer and gave Warren a hard stare. "I don't want to sound like an asshole, but I will."

Warren tried to open his mouth. He wanted to ask David what he meant by that, but the man already beat him to it.

"I think it's best if you just leave. Don't worry, we won't tell your father that you pulled a vanishing act on us. It's not like you wanted to be here in the first place," David said in a clipped tone.
