Fourteen
GODZILLA VS KONG was the movie Luck and David have watched. It's already been two hours since the movie ended, and they already had their dinner. Trying to pass the time, they hang at the mall's lounge area.
Luck and David were in the middle of talking about the best part of the movie when David suddenly felt like going to the restroom.
"Hey, I'm going to hit the restroom. You going too?" David asked as he stood.
Luck shakes his head and starts browsing on his phone. "No, I'll wait here."
David nods and walks away from Luck. He hadn't been walking far when Luck called him again.
"Hey, do you want me to give you a lift home?"
David turned his body sideways and gave Luck a teasing look. "You could've said that you still wanted to spend more time with me, Luck. No need to beat around the bush."
Luck rolled his eyes at David. He looks clearly unfazed by David's obvious flirtations. "Just answer the question, David. Or would you rather have me run you over with my car?"
David winked at him. "I'll never say no to a free ride, sweet stuff."
Luck nods and waves David off. "Okay, I'll wait for you then."
David nodded and plunged his hands deep into the pockets of his baggy pants. He ran to the nearest restroom and went inside an empty stall.
After doing his business, David opened the door and was about to walk towards the sink when the stall located at the very end opened, revealing a familiar person.
David didn't hide the surprise on his face and pinned his gaze on Warren's face.
Judging by his reaction, he seemed surprised as well. He must not have expected to cross paths with me in a public restroom, of all places. David thought.
"Hey. I didn't expect to see you here. What brought you to the mall?" David started with a friendly tone.
Warren quickly concealed his reaction and stared at David with a face devoid of any emotion. He's still pissed at David and jealous of the closeness he had with Luck. Every time Warren looked back on what he witnessed at the cinema, that disgusting feeling kept resurfacing.
Warren couldn't stop feeling jealous, even if he wanted to. Jealousy is a natural response when you see the person you're attracted to act closer with somebody else. However, Warren knows he can't just forbid David to do things he doesn't like; that would make him look like an entitled bastard making unreasonable demands.
The relationship he has with David is not on a level where he could make demands yet. It's still on the surface level—their relationship.
It's still shallow. Not deep enough. Fragile. Easy to break.
"You with your assistant? Omar?" David asked again. Then he made a beeline for the sink.
He turned the faucet on and washed his hands with soap and water. When Warren didn't answer him, David looked at him through the mirror in front.
Napataas ang kilay ni David nang nanatiling nakatitig si Warren sa kanya. David grabbed some tissue papers and dried his hands as he turned around to face Warren.
"Huy, okay ka lang?" Malumanay na tanong ni David at tsaka niya itinapon sa basurahan ang ginamit na tissue.
Kalaunan ay unti-unti nang nagsalubong ang kilay niya dahil parang estatwa lang si Warren na nakatayo sa stall na nilabasan nito.
Ano nanamang problema ng isang 'to? Para nanamang timang. Akmang magtatanong na sana uli si David, pero nakagalaw na si Warren at tinungo na nito ang sink na nasa tabi lamang niya.
