Without a second thought, Airene rushed into the emergency room, ignoring the warnings from the staff. The moment she saw Jimin connected to wires and monitors, her heart shattered. His once strong and lively form now looked frail, surrounded by the cold machines keeping him tethered to life. "Jimin..." she whimpered, tears streaming down her face. But as she took a step closer, the nurses quickly halted her, holding her back. "Miss, you can't—" one of the nurses began, but Airene was already sobbing uncontrollably, her body trembling with fear and anguish. "Jimin, please!" she screamed, her voice breaking. "Please come back to me!" Her cries echoed through the room, but the monitors remained unchanged.
Desperation clawed at her heart. Airene broke free from the nurses' grip and collapsed by the foot of his bed. She buried her face against his legs, her tears soaking through the fabric of his hospital gown. "I love you, Mochi," she cried out, her voice shaking. "Please, don't leave me again. Please... I'm not ready to lose you. Not again." She clung to him, her tears falling like rain as she pleaded for him to come back. She couldn't imagine a world without him now that she knew the truth, now that she realized that he had always been her Mochi—the one she had loved and lost so many years ago. "Please... wake up," she whispered, her voice barely audible as she gripped his leg tighter. "I can't do this without you."
Just then, a faint beeping sound pierced through the silence. The monitor beside Jimin began to register a change, the lines on the screen shifting slightly. Airene's heart leaped as the sound filled the room. The doctors and nurses, who had been observing in quiet sadness, sprang into action. One of the doctors hurried over to the monitor, his eyes widening in surprise. "Something's happening," he announced. "Prepare for immediate intervention!" The room became a whirlwind of motion as the medical team quickly made their preparations. Airene was still clutching Jimin's leg, tears continuing to fall, but for the first time in hours, hope surged through her.
"He's responding..." the doctor murmured, his eyes scanning the machines. "Something's reaching him."Airene didn't care about the chaos around her. She only held onto the belief that, somehow, her words had gotten through to Jimin. His body was fighting, and his brain was beginning to respond. "I love you, Mochi," she whispered once more, her voice filled with both desperation and hope. "Please... come back to me." And in that moment, she knew that no matter what happened, she wouldn't give up on him. Not now. Not ever.
As the commotion in the emergency room settled into a focused, tense calm, the nurse approached Airene gently but firmly. "Miss, I need you to leave so we can prepare him for surgery," she said, her voice compassionate but urgent. "He's responding now, and we need to get him into the operating room immediately." Airene's heart ached as she looked back at Jimin, his breathing now stable, though he remained unconscious. The doctor, quickly donning his surgical scrubs, assured her with a reassuring yet strained voice, "We'll do everything we can. I promise you, we will take good care of him." With tears streaming down her face, Airene nodded, unable to speak. The nurse guided her gently out of the room.
As she was led down the corridor, she spotted Jungkook approaching, his face a mixture of concern and relief. "Airene!" Jungkook exclaimed, pulling her into a tight embrace. His arms were warm and strong, a stark contrast to the cold fear that had gripped her. Airene, her voice trembling, recounted everything that had happened inside. " I thought I lost him. But then, I told him I loved him, and something changed. The doctors said he's responding. They're taking him in for surgery." Jungkook's eyes widened with relief and joy. "He's going to be okay? That's amazing news!" he shouted in excitement, unable to contain his elation. His sudden outburst drew the attention of the hospital staff, who gave him disapproving looks. "Keep it down, please," one of the nurses said, trying to maintain order. "We need to keep the area quiet." Jungkook quickly lowered his voice but couldn't suppress his grin. "I'm sorry, I just... I'm so happy! You have no idea how relieved I am."
