"You ready to go?" Wade said after walking into my office."Yes, did you get his keys?" I asked Wade. Tim was still in the hospital and wouldn't be released until tomorrow.
During our lunch break, Wade and I were going to take Tim's car back to his place and I'll pack a bag of clothes for him while we were there. On the way home tonight, I'll drop them off.
Following Wade through the parking complex, he gets into Tim's car, while I get into mine. Wade follows behind me to Tim's place and parks in the driveways.
"Ok I'll be 2 minutes. My car is unlocked for you." I tell him while walking towards him.
"Alright, here are his keys." Wade said, passing the keys to me before walking towards my car.
I walk to Tim's front door and unlock it. Walking into his house felt weird when he isn't here. Walking through his living room and towards his bedroom, I look around making sure everything was in place for when he comes home tomorrow.
Once I was in his room, I walked into his closet and got his duffel bag from the top shelf. I did have to jump a couple of times to reach it, but I got it in the end. I got him a change of clothes and then walk into his bathroom to get his toiletries.
This still felt weird, I've been in his house plenty of time before, but it still felt wrong going through his stuff without him here.
After making sure I got everything he would need. I walked out making sure that the house was locked behind me. Walking to my car, I placed Tim's duffel bag in the boot and walked around to the driver's side, and getting in.
"How have I never been in your car before. It's so nice and look at all this space." Wade asked. I watch as Wade continues to look around my car with a shock face. I couldn't help but giggle at his expression, Angela and Tim had the same one when I got it last year. I love my car, it had so much space for the boys in the back and it had great safety features.
"It is nice isn't it." I say while starting the car and getting ready to drive us back to the station.
"Nice, it amazing. What does this do?" he asked while looking at some of the controls.
"That turns the seat warmers on."
"Seat warmers, now that's fancy." I reply after quickly looking down before looking back towards the road in front of us.
"Do you want the roof open?"
"The roof opens!?"
Wade looked up in amazement. He looked like a little kid on Christmas, meeting Santa for the first time. I open the roof and the big smile I got in return made me giggle again. He looks like Ben after he finishes building something out of his Legos blocks.
Later that day 6.30pm – Tim's hospital room
"Thanks for bringing my staff over Vi, you didn't have too." Tim said. He was lying in bed with the moveable table in front, with Alex and Ben on the other side of it, the three playing with the boy's toy cars.
"It's fine. Did the doctor say anything about when you would be able to leave?"
"Tomorrow sometime." He said while looking down and playing with his toy car Ben had given him to play with.
"Did they say what time?" I ask, looking at him questionable.
"Nope, just sometime tomorrow. Afternoon most likely."
He only uses 'nope' when his hiding something. I've known Tim for over three years, he says nope when he doesn't want me to know something. He must know what time he'll be discharged tomorrow. He said afternoon most likely. Lie. If he is fine and they know he'll be discharged tomorrow, they wouldn't keep him here all day. They would check his vital in the morning and then he'll be discharged. He'll be out first thing, I'll just ask his nurse what time.
