Friday, Mid-Wilshire Station - No POV
It was 9am and the day shift we're all finding a seat in the briefing room, with Sargent Grey walking in, ready to start the day.
"All right, settle down" Sargent Grey told the room full of officers.
"We have a few follow up calls to make this morning. They will be assigned to your shops." He started to say.
"For our rookies. Today you'll be spending the first half of your shift with our very own criminal and technical analyst. The Captain wants you three to get a better understanding of the work analysts do in the background of our police work" Sargent Grey told the three rookies while walking to stand in front of them.
"Yes sir" The rookies reply.
"Officer Nolan. Officer Bishop has been called into court today, so you'll be getting a ride with Officer Bradford and Officer Chen. When you return, you'll be at the front desk". The Sargent told the officer while walking back towards the front.
"A ride, I thought Miss Rose worked upstairs... Sir" Officer Nolan asked confused, his fellow rookies also confused.
"Normally yes, but for the last few weeks she has been working from home three days a week. Officer Bradford, would you like to tell them why?" Sargent Grey asked the T.O.
"Due to the increase in work, Miss Rose finds it easier to work from home where she is not constantly interrupted by officers requesting full background checks on every arrest they do." Officer Bradford said, with everyone turning around to look at Officer Smitty towards the end, before turning back when Sargent Grey started to talk again.
"Miss Rose is not just a technical analyst for the department, she is also a criminal analyst who works closely with detectives. Today you three will see why her work and every analyst work is important to this department and our community. Alright that's it, stay safe out there". Sargent Grey told the room.
"Boot, get our shop ready" Officer Bradford told his rookie before walking out of the briefing room with Officer Lopez.
"You have your key?" Officer Lopez asked Bradford.
"It's in my locker, I'll get it now"
"Alright, we'll meet you out front" Officer Lopez said walking towards the rookies who were getting their gear.
In the shop
"Why did Lopez ask if you have your key?" Officer Chen asked her T.O. who was currently driving. Officer Nolan sitting in the back listening.
"Violet is probably in her office working, she won't hear the door if she's in the zone" Officer Bradford said.
"The zone?" Officer Nolan asked from the back seat.
"She can get so into her work that she can sometimes lose track of time and losses focus with what's around her"
"That doesn't sound healthy" Officer Chen says looking a little concerned at the T.O. before looking back out the window.
"She has alarms on her phone and computer to make sure she takes breaks and doesn't work too late" Bradford explained to the two rookies.
"Really?" Officer Nolan asked.
"Really" Officer Bradford said, looking out of his side window, before turning.
"When we got there, don't touch anything unless she says you can." He continues to say.
"Ok..." The two rookies replied.
"And whatever you do, don't comment on her house or anything else for that matter." He told them as he turned and started to drive into a very nice suburb.
