Inferno dropped down onto a path, next to a sign that read: Keymont City! Your stop to everlastingly fun!
"Ugh, cheesy." Inferno rolled his eyes as he turned back into a human.
He and March walked down the path together. I can get my friends back by getting something here... March thought to herself.
"WELCOME TO KEYMONT CITY!!" A really loud, cheerful voice chirped.
March stopped spacing out and looked in front of her to see a lovely short lady with large glasses and a green dress.
"Now, where are you folks headed? Oh, I'm being rude. My name is Mayor Minnie. If you need anything, visit my office in the heart of the city!" Mayor Minnie squealed.
"Nice to meet you Mayor. We're headed no where in particular. Just some traveling is all!" March grinned.
Inferno's pupils shifted into narrow slits. (It did that sometimes when he was going into more of a dragon mode). He bared his sharp fangs and growled. He snarled, got on all fours, and dashed away. It was obvious the citizens were frightened because they saw some guy just dash away into the shadows like a lunatic. March waddled into his direction and until she was out of sight, she started running.
"FERNO, ACT LIKE A HUMAN BEING!" March screamed as she flung after him.
He totally ignored her and kept running. The tips of Inferno's hair started to smoke until they had like little flames on the ends. He stopped running. Inferno stood up. His fangs shrunk and the flames on his hair burned out. Inferno's pupils turned back into circles instead of beast like slits.
"Sorry." He mumbled.
"No, no, it's fine. But something must've attracted your senses." March looked at him weirdly.
She looked in front of her. Inferno stopped at a quaint little village house. It must have something important if Inferno went all cray cray... March pondered. She lightly tapped on the door. A man opened it.
"Hello! What do you need?" He asked.
"He looks completely normal and useless." Inferno muttered to March.
"Let's just see." She whispered back. "Um, do you mind if we stay here for a while?"
"Well not at all! Come in, come in." He motioned his hard towards the inside.
Inferno and March scuttled inside and sat down on a couch.
"Now, I don't mind you staying here but may I ask, why didn't you stay at the local inn?" He asked.
"Um... Well you see... He's my pet and... He's too big... So I couldn't stay in the inn!" March lied while pointing at Inferno.
"But he doesn't seem like an animal to me!" The man laughed.
"He's a dragon! But... He can turn into a human!" March kept on stuttering.
"Well I'll be, really!? Well let me see!" The man gasped.
Inferno turned into a dragon and almost broke the ceiling.
"I BELIEVE YOU, I BELIEVE YOU!" The man yelped.
Inferno turned back into a human.
"Well, aren't I being rude? My name is Joseph, and you?" Joseph asked.
"I'm Inferno and this is my girl March." Inferno replied.
"Your girl?" Joseph repeated. "Well I'll be! You're lovers!"
"NOPE. Nope. Nope.'' Inferno and March said in unison.
"Don't worry! It's fine! My daughter, she's getting married and I'm giving her this!" Joseph held up a key.
The key had blue gems, a silver aura radiating around it, and January was carved delicately into the gold.
This is my clue to gaining January! March thought. The soul keys, that's it! Myz wants me to find the soul keys, the very things that connect the months to their life source!
"Um, Joseph, why would you want to give your daughter a key?" March stalled.
"Well, I'm going to melt the gold and the gems into a beautiful necklace to celebrate her matrimony!" He laughed heartily.
"Um, Joseph, we need to take that key." Inferno said, obviously he and March thought of the same things.
"I'm sorry son, but no." Joseph wagged his finger in Inferno's face.
"Sir, that's our key!" March growled.
"No it isn't! And if you can't accept that, then I'm afraid you'd better leave!" Joseph snarled back.
March and Inferno looked at each other then nodded. Inferno leaped at Joseph.
"GIMME THAT KEY!" Inferno and Joseph were both tugging it back and forth.
"NEVER!" Joseph grumbled.
"MARCH!" Inferno yelped. "HELP!"
March leaped into the struggled and clutched onto the key. She tried to pry it out of Joseph's hands but he wouldn't give in. Inferno pushed Joseph to a wall. Joseph smacked into it then crumbled into a little ball. Inferno usually is care free, but that made him feel awful. Joseph got onto his knees.
"I'm too old to be fighting like this." He whispered. "Just keep the key. I hope it's more important then your daughter's wedding."
March started to tear up. "Ugh! I can't stand to do something as cruel as this." March reached into her bag. She picked up a handful of rare and beautiful gems. March tossed them at Joseph.
"I can't tell you why I need this key... But I hope you'll accept that for your daughter." March smiled.
Joseph looked at them. He said thank you with his eyes.
...
"Good bye!" March waved as she and Inferno walked out of the village.
"Come back soon!" Mayor Minnie squeaked.
Inferno turned into a dragon and March hopped onto his back. Inferno flapped his wings and headed away.
"Hey, there's some kind of message attached to the key..." March muttered.
She lifted up the letter and opened it.
Dear Monthie,
You have found the first key, the key to January. If you have found this key, that means right now I figured out which month you are. Your next clue is: find the most beautiful maiden in waiting in Shire Kingdom. That's all. Bye Bye!
Your beloved, Myz!
"This guys seems like a real creep." Inferno mumbled.
"No matter. Just find a hot chick in Shire. Sounds easy enough." March grinned as they rode of into the clouds.
...
"Ha ha! How stupid could March be!" I laughed.
Me and my loyal, rotten servants stood around the telegraphic orb, watching everything March did.
"This is too easy." I smiled evily.
