The morning after Colet's birthday party, Y/n found herself standing at the door of her apartment, feeling a familiar tension in her chest. She had been up all night, wrestling with her thoughts, caught between her feelings for Colet and the reality of their current lives. The sight of Colet with her boyfriend, happy and carefree, had cut deeper than she expected, and she wasn't sure how to navigate the tangled emotions that followed.

She heard the soft, familiar knock. Y/n's hand hesitated on the doorknob for a moment before she slowly opened the door, just enough to peek out, as she used to do before they had become friends.

Colet stood there, holding the milk and newspaper, her usual bright smile faltering when she saw Y/n's hesitant expression. "Morning, Y/n!" she greeted, trying to sound cheerful. "I've got your delivery."

Y/n nodded but kept her face partially hidden. "Just... uhh, iwan mo nalang dyan" she said quietly. "I'll get it later."

Colet blinked, taken aback. This was the Y/n she had first met, the shy, guarded woman who barely opened the door. Colet felt a pang in her heart. "Hey... okay ka lang?" she asked, her voice tinged with concern. "You seem... different today."

Y/n's heart squeezed at the worry in Colet's voice, but she forced herself to stay calm. "o-okay lang ako," she replied flatly. "Marami pa akong gagawin... Thank you for the deliveries."

Colet hesitated, wanting to ask more, but Y/n's tone left little room for conversation. "Okay... if you say so," she murmured, feeling a sting of hurt that she couldn't quite understand. She set the milk and newspaper down gently on the doorstep. "Have a good day, Y/n," she added, her voice softer now, unsure.

Y/n just nodded before quickly shutting the door close.

Inside, she leaned against the door, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. She told herself that this distance was necessary, that she had to protect herself from the pain of seeing Colet in love with someone else, someone who wasn't her. But the ache in her heart didn't lessen, if anything, it grew sharper.

Outside, Colet stood for a moment, staring at the closed door, confusion and worry swirling in her chest. Why was Y/n pulling away? She couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong, that she had missed something important.

She walked back to her motorcycle, wiping away a tear that had escaped her eye. She felt silly for being so affected by Y/n's distance, but she couldn't help it. She liked Y/n. She liked talking to her, spending time with her. She had become a part of her routine, her days, and now she was slipping away, and Colet didn't know why.

As she drove away, the wind whipped against her face, but it couldn't hide the tears that began to fall. She couldn't stop thinking about Y/n, about her sudden distance, about the sadness she had glimpsed in her eyes before she closed the door. What had gone wrong? Why did it feel like she was losing someone she barely understood she had?

Meanwhile...

Mikha sat in her luxurious bedroom, a room filled with the finest furniture and decorations money could buy. A large window overlooked the city skyline, the lights twinkling like stars in the darkness. Despite the wealth and comfort surrounding her, her hazel eyes were distant, lost in thought.

Mikha had been living a charmed life, at least from the outside. Her human parents were influential business moguls, owning numerous companies and raking in more wealth than most could imagine. They had given Mikha everything, a beautiful home, expensive clothes, an elite education, and access to the best social circles. Mikha was well-known in the city, often seen at high-profile events and charity galas, always accompanied by her parents or a group of friends who admired her for her wit and grace.
