Y/N'S POV

The hospital was quiet, a near-stillness settling in the hallways as i made my way to mamu's room. It was 9 p.m., and visiting hours were winding down, but that never stopped me from slipping in to see mamu before heading home.

My fingers tightened around the bag of fruits I'd brought. I paused at the door, peeking in to see her lying peacefully, her head wrapped in bandages that served as a sobering reminder of everything that had happened. I felt the weight of the day's events finally catch up to me.

I hadn't realized how much the interview had drained me, and yet, here i am, wanting nothing more than to be close to my mamu.

I quietly slipped into the room, the low hum of hospital machines the only sound as i settled into the chair beside the bed. I placed the bag of fruits on the table and reached out, gently taking mamu's hand in mine.

"Hi ma," i whispered. "Uh... Galing ako sa last interview ko kanina, naging okay naman, siguro... Kahit na," a faint smile tugging on my lips. "Yung CEO, medyo intense. Nakakatakot, pero mas nakakatakot ka parin syempre." I chuckled softly, "But I'll make it work, mamu. Para sa atin. Para sayo."

I just sat there, filling the her with stories and small updates, as if she could hear me and respond.

The clock ticked past ten before i finally stirred, gently setting her hand back on the bed. "Babalik ako sa susunod, ma." i leaned in to press a soft kiss on her forehead.

"Goodnight, Ma."

As i walked out, a pang of loneliness settled over me, but there was a quiet determination as well. I'd keep moving forward, even if it felt impossible some days. Because, if nothing else, i knew mamu would want me to keep trying.

Gagawin ko ang lahat.

Lahat lahat ng makakaya ko.

I stepped outside the hospital doors. The evening was quiet, the streetlights casting a soft glow over the empty parking lot.

My mind was still back in that room, my thoughts swirling with memories, worries, and the echoes of my own whispered promises.

I didn't even notice the figure approaching until...

"Ah-" She stumbled backward but quick enough to keep my balance.

Wth?!

"Watch it,"

I heard a smooth voice, the tone more amused than irritated.

I blinked, looking up to find myself staring into a pair of familiar, intense eyes.

Miss Lim?

Sa dinami-rami ng taong makakabanggaan ko, siya pa talaga?

Si Kamatayan na mismo ang lumalapit, tangina.

"You're out late," Mikha remarked, her eyes narrowing with a faint smirk. "Didn't expect to see you here."

A smirk?

Ayan na nga ba sinasabi ko e.

I just forced a neutral expression, "S-same as you, Miss Lim. May binibisita po kayo?"

Mikha's smirk deepened, her gaze unwavering. "No, i had some... business to attend to."

"Ahh, well, nice meeting you again, Miss Lim uhmm-" i gestured toward the parking lot, ready to slip past her, but she moved, her posture blocking my path just enough to keep me standing here.
