As Ollie stepped into the Dauntless base, she was immediately struck by the energy around her. A mix of anticipation and adrenaline filled the air. "Dauntless-born, go with Lauren, transfers stay with me," a commanding voice cut through the excitement. "Go," Lauren urged, gesturing for the Dauntless-born initiates to follow her. "Most of the time I work in Intelligence, but during your training, I'll be your instructor. My name's Four," the instructor said, his eyes sharp and piercing, his gaze lingering on Ollie for a little longer.
As Four's intense gaze lingered on Ollie a little longer than the others, a group of girls in Hogwarts couldn't contain their excitement. "Did you see that? The way he looked at her!" one squealed, clutching her friend's arm. "It's like he's already chosen her!" another chimed in, eyes wide with admiration. "Merlin, I wish someone would look at me like that!" Meanwhile, Olivia's parents sat more quietly, their reactions far more subdued. Her mother's brows furrowed in quiet suspicion, sensing something beneath the surface. Her father exchanged a glance with Lily, a protective edge creeping into his expression, as if wondering what Four's lingering stare truly meant for their daughter.
"Four like the number?" Christina asked, her tone a mix of curiosity and disbelief. "Exactly like the number." He replied with a faint smirk. "What happened, one through three were taken?" Christina askes playfully. "What's your name?" he asked. "Christina," she answered, a hint of determination in her voice. "Well Christina. The first lesson you learn from me, if you want to survive here, is keep your mouth shut. Do you understand me?"
"Yes," she replied, feeling the weight of his words. "Good. Follow me." As he led them deeper into the base, Ollie took in her surroundings. "This is The Pit," Four announced, gesturing to the bustling hub filled with initiates and Dauntless members. The noise was electric, a blend of laughter, shouts, and the clanking of metal. This was it - the beginning of her new life.
Ollie and the other initiates stood in the dimly lit Dauntless sleeping area, a mix of excitement and uncertainty buzzing in the air. "You're gonna be sleeping here for the next ten weeks," Four announced, leaning against the wall with a smirk. "Girls or boys?" An Erudite asked. "Both," he replied, his grin widening as the initiates exchanged glances, some clearly taken aback. "Nice," one girl said sarcastically, while a boy added, "That works."
"If you like this, you're gonna love the bathroom," Four teased, and laughter erupted among the group. "Seriously?" another girl scoffed, her eyes scanning the sparse space. "Is there no other area?" a boy questioned, disbelief etched on his face. "You should feel right at home, Candor. Everything out in the open," Four shot back. "Is this a joke?" Christina muttered, glancing around as Ollie shrugged, her pulse quickening with the thrill of the unknown.
"Get changed," Four ordered, cutting through the chatter. "Right. Shower, anyone?" one initiate suggested, and the conversation faded into a chorus of nervous laughter and banter. As Olivia took it all in, she felt a strange mix of dread and exhilaration, the rock music blaring in the background only heightening the atmosphere of reckless freedom.
In the Great Hall, the students and staff of Hogwarts watched the scene unfold with mixed reactions. Murmurs rippled through the crowd as Four nonchalantly mentioned the initiates sleeping and bathing arrangements. Hermione frowned, clearly unimpressed by the lack of privacy, while Ron exchanged a wide-eyed glance with Harry. "Both? Seriously?" Ginny muttered, crossing her arms. Olivia's parents, sitting near the front, looked uneasy, her mother's brow furrowed with concern. "I can't believe they allow that," one professor whispered, shaking their head. Despite the discomfort, some students, especially the more rebellious ones, chuckled, sensing the freedom and thrill that Dauntless promised.
As the initiates gathered around the roaring fire, the atmosphere buzzed with a mix of excitement and nervousness. Ollie stood at the edge, watching as her fellow Dauntless initiates tossed their old clothes into the flames, the fabric curling and blackening in moments. The scent of burning cotton filled the air, a symbolic shedding of their past lives. "Goodbye Abnegation, rest in peace bitch," she joked, throwing in a a jumper with a laugh. But what she didn't notice was Four watching her from afar with a curious smile.
