Olivia Potter. The Innocent Child. July 31st, 2007. The day she ran away, slipping through the shadows of Potter Manor, her absence unnoticed amidst the celebrations for her twin brother, Harry. Forgotten and alone, Olivia left behind a life where s...
Ollie pushes open the door to the dorms, her face still flushed from adrenaline, and is greeted by a loud chorus of cheers from the other initiates. "There she is!" Christina exclaims, rushing over with a grin. "You do have a death wish. I can't believe you said that to Eric!" The room buzzes with excitement as the others gather around her, a mixture of admiration and disbelief on their faces. Will claps her on the shoulder. "You're the only one who's ever stood up to him. That was insane." Christina notices the cut on Ollie's arm and winces. "Look at your arm. Let's get you cleaned up."
"Hey, Ollie, that was cool," Molly says softly, her tone earnest, shocking Ollie and Christina. Ollie gives her a small smile and as she walks away she turns to Christina. "Did she really just congratulate me?" Ollie says shocked, Christina just shrugs. But then Peter's mocking voice cuts through the warm atmosphere. "Impressive, Stiff. Congrats." He smirks, leaning against a bunk. "Shut up, Peter," Will snaps, rolling his eyes. "What?" Peter continues, unfazed. "Hey, you're famous now. I mean, not just because of the little showdown with Eric." He pulls out a tablet, tapping on it dramatically. "You're in the news. Listen to this."
The room quiets as Peter reads aloud, his tone dripping with fake sincerity. "'The recent transfer of Olivia and Alex Johnson, Children of Andrew Johnson, calls into question the soundness of Abnegation principles. What prompted them to leave? Perhaps the answer lies in the inadequacies of their so-called 'teachings and values.' Or maybe it's the lack of discipline and accountability.'" Ollie stiffens, her jaw clenching. Peter glances at her, a wicked gleam in his eye, and continues. "'Rumors even suggest their upbringing was steeped in scandal, given their parents' controversial past. Did they mistreat their children, like Marcus Eaton's kid?'"
Ollie's fists tighten at her sides, but she keeps her voice calm and measured. "They didn't mistreat anyone. My parents are good people." Peter shrugs, feigning innocence. "Right. And that's why you left? What, did they send you packing?" The room falls silent, the tension thick. Ollie glares at Peter, her green eyes blazing as she turns and leaves. "Was it something I said?" he adds, genuinely clueless of what he did wrong. Before anyone can respond, Christina steps forward, her voice sharp. "Yeah, it was. Now shut it, Peter."
In Hogwarts, Lily and James Potter watch the scene unfold, their expressions shifting between outrage and heartbreak. Lily's emerald-green eyes flash with fury as Peter mocks Ollie, her protective instincts flaring. "How dare he speak about her like that?" she exclaims, her voice trembling. James grips the back of a chair tightly, his knuckles white. "He's nothing but a coward hiding behind words," he growls, his voice low and dangerous. But beneath the anger lies a deep ache; hearing Ollie defend people she believes to be her parents reminds them of all the moments they've missed. "She's so strong," Lily whispers, her voice softening as Ollie walks away with her head held high. James nods, his pride evident despite the sting of the scene. "That's our daughter," he murmurs, his jaw tight. Both can't help but feel the deep divide between their world and hers, wishing they could be there to shield her from the cruelty she faces.
Ollie stands in the training room, staring at the scoreboard. Her name hovers just below the red line, the threshold that determines who stays in Dauntless and who is cut. Her heart pounds as Eric strides into the room, his smirk making it clear he's relishing this moment. "First fight," Eric announces, his eyes scanning the room before landing on Ollie. "Ollie versus Peter." Murmurs ripple through the initiates. Christina whispers, "He's just trying to mess with you."
Four approaches Ollie quickly, his voice low and steady. "Remember what I said about attack? First shot, right to the throat. Watch him - he steps before he punches. Got it?" Ollie nods, her jaw tightening as she steps into the ring. Peter is already there, cracking his knuckles and grinning smugly. "Ready, Stiff? You look like you're about to cry. Maybe I'll go easy on you if you do." Ollie ignores him, her focus narrowing as Eric signals the start. Peter lunges first, but Ollie sidesteps, landing a sharp jab to his throat. Peter stumbles, coughing, and the initiates gasp.
"Come on, Ollie!" Christina shouts from the sidelines. Ollie presses her advantage, dodging Peter's wild swings and landing a series of punches that leave him off balance. She almost smiles when she sees his smug expression falter. But Peter recovers quickly. With brute strength, he grabs Ollie and shoves her floor. Pain explodes through her back as he lands a punch to her stomach, then another. Her vision blurs, and she hears Four mutter something before turning and leaving the room. Ollie summons the last of her strength, swinging at Peter's face, but he catches her arm and slams her to the ground. Everything goes dark.
In the magical halls of Hogwarts, James and Lily Potter watched the scene unfold, their faces a mixture of pride and anguish. Lily clutched James's arm, her knuckles white as Ollie stepped into the ring, her determination and courage painfully reminiscent of James's boldness. "She's so brave," Lily whispered, her voice trembling, "but she shouldn't have to be." James's jaw tightened, his hazel eyes locked on Ollie as she dodged Peter's first attacks with agility. "That's our girl," he muttered, his pride evident despite the growing tension in his voice. But as Peter overpowered her and Ollie hit the ground, both parents flinched as if they'd been struck themselves. Lily's eyes brimmed with tears, her maternal instincts screaming to pull Ollie from the ring and shield her from the brutality. James, his heart heavy with guilt and helplessness, placed a comforting hand on Lily's shoulder. "She's strong, Lil," he said softly, though his voice wavered. "She's going to get back up. She always does." Yet, as the scene ended with Ollie unconscious, they both sat in silence, the weight of their daughter's fight leaving them haunted and resolute to find a way to reach her.
Ollie wakes slowly, her head pounding and her body aching. She's in a stark hospital bed, the white walls around her sterile and cold. She blinks, trying to sit up, but the pain in her ribs stops her. "Hey, you're awake!" Christina's relieved voice fills the room as she rushes to her bedside. Will follows, his expression a mix of concern and guilt. "Wow," Ollie croaks, her voice raspy. "You look like shit." Christina snorts despite herself. "You're one to talk. You've been out for a day."
"A day?" Ollie tries to process it. "What happened? Where am I on the scoreboard?" Will's face falls. "You're below the line. Eric said..." He hesitates, glancing at Christina. She takes over. "Eric said you're out. He told us you're done." Ollie's breath catches. "No. No, that can't-" Will interrupts gently. "Your family might take you back, Ollie. Maybe you can-"
"I'm not going home," Ollie snaps, trying to swing her legs off the bed. Pain shoots through her, and Christina quickly pushes her back down. "You can't come with us," Christina says softly. "We're heading to the war games. Eric says you're out, Ollie. I'm so sorry." Will glances at his watch. "We have to go, or we'll miss the train." He hesitates. "Take care of yourself, Ollie." Christina leans down, squeezing Ollie's hand before following Will out. "Bye," she whispers. "Bye," Ollie says weakly, staring at the ceiling as their footsteps fade. Determination flickers in her chest. If they thought she was done, they didn't know her at all.
Hogwarts watches in tense silence, their hearts aching for Ollie's struggle, but a spark of admiration ignites as they see the fierce determination in her eyes, refusing to accept defeat despite the odds stacked against her.
