Olivia Potter. The Innocent Child. July 31st, 2007. The day she ran away, slipping through the shadows of Potter Manor, her absence unnoticed amidst the celebrations for her twin brother, Harry. Forgotten and alone, Olivia left behind a life where s...
In the dim light of the Dauntless dormitory, the sound of metal clanging against metal echoed like an alarm, jolting the initiates from their sleep. Four stood at the front, wielding frying pans with an amused grin. "I want everyone in The Pit. Two minutes!" he called, his voice cutting through the groggy confusion.
As the initiates scrambled to get dressed, Four walked away. Once everyone was gathered in the pit, he explained, "There are two stages of training. The first is physical. You'll push your bodies to the breaking point and master combat techniques." He glanced around, ensuring they were paying attention. "The second stage is mental. You'll face your worst fears and conquer them, or they'll get the better of you."
The weight of his words settled in the air. "You'll train separately from the Dauntless-born, but your rankings will determine your fate. After initiation, those rankings will decide what jobs you move into - leadership, guarding the fence, or keeping the Factionless from tearing each other apart."
As the scene unfolded on the screen, the Great Hall was filled with stunned silence. The Hogwarts students watched in awe, unaccustomed to the brutal, military-like atmosphere of the Dauntless faction. Lily and James , exchanged worried glances, their faces tightening with concern. They hadn't expected to see their daughter in such a harsh, unforgiving world. The idea of Olivia being forced to fight and confront her deepest fears in such an intense, unforgiving environment sent a chill down their spines. This was a side of their daughter's life they had never known - a world of danger and survival far removed from the relative safety of Hogwarts.
"The rankings will also determine who gets cut." Eric states, walking towards the group. The initiates exchanged worried glances. "Cut?" one of them asked, voice shaky. "At the end of each stage, the lowest-ranking Initiates will be leaving us. And there's no going home. If you get cut, you'll live factionless." An outburst of frustration rippled through the group. "Why didn't we know that?" another demanded. "It's a new rule," Eric replied calmly. "Would you have chosen differently? Out of fear?" He paused, letting his words sink in. "If that's the case, you might as well leave now. You chose us. Now we get to choose you."
"Calm down bro." Ollie muttered to herself, earing an elbow to the side by Christina, who wore a small smirk. Four glanced at Ollie as she smiled at Christina, intrigued by her. Eric walked away and with that, the gravity of their situation settled over the room like a thick fog, and the initiates began to realize just what it meant to be Dauntless.
As the scene unfolded, the tension in the Great Hall was palpable. Parents shifted uncomfortably in their seats, their faces tight with concern. The idea of children being forced to fight for their place, with no option to return home, struck a chord. Molly Weasley gasped, clutching Arthur's arm, while the Grangers exchanged worried glances. Even Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, usually composed, seemed unsettled by the harshness of Eric's words.
However on the other side of the hall, a wave of excited whispers and muffled giggles swept through the girls. A group of Gryffindors near the front exchanged wide-eyed glances, leaning in to one another with barely contained excitement. "Did you see that?" one of them whispered, eyes sparkling. "Four totally noticed her!" another chimed in, her voice brimming with admiration. They gushed over Ollie's quick wit and the playful interaction with Christina, but it was Four's intrigued glance that really sent them into a frenzy. "She's so cool!" a Hufflepuff added, as the group collectively swooned over Olivia's effortless charm in the face of danger.
