Chapter 18

I wake up the next morning and sign up. I get a sharp pain in my back and I cringe in pain. I see breakfast waiting for me on my side table. I pick it up and eat a little bit of it. I set it back down and pick up my laptop I'm guessing someone dropped off. I open it and I have a new email with a video link. I open it and it starts. "I'll find you. Wherever you stay. Wherever you go. I'll find you. No where's safe. And if you tell anyone I'll just kill them", Adam says. He shoots a gun in the sky and smiles deviously. I shut my laptop and lie it on my bed. A tear rolls down my cheek and the doctor comes in.

"It's time to go", He says. "We have your ride outside", He adds. I nod and grab my stuff. I brush my hair and stick it in my bag. I leave my room and walk into the elevator. When I get outside I see Clark waiting for me.

"They told me it would be easier if I stayed out here", Clark says. I nod and we get in. He starts to drive to the farm. "You okay", Clark asks.

"I got this video on my laptop. And it was from Adam. He told me that he'll find me. Wherever I go or wherever I stay. He'll find me. No where's safe. And that if I told anyone he would kill them. But he doesn't know how to kill you", I sigh.

"How did that video get on there", Clark asks.

"I guess he had it some how and came to the hospital", I reply.

"How? Everyone knows what he looks like", Clark says.

"Disguise", I say.

"Look I won't let him hurt you", Clark assures me. I nod still unsure. I get out when we get to the farm and I go inside. I hear a noise liking someone dropping something. I look around and get out my gun. I set my stuff down and Clark walks in after me. I walk around the corner and see Chloe snooping around.

"Chloe", I say. She looks at me and puts her hands up. I roll my eyes and lower my gun. "Why are you snooping around", I ask her.

"I was trying to see if there was any evidence to help me find Adam. No one was home so I let myself in", Chloe replies.

"Well don't do that. You gave me a heart attack", I say.

"Sorry", Chloe says.

"It's fine", I reply. Clark comes around the corner and sees Chloe. "So did you find anything", I ask.

"I found this", Chloe replies. "It's some sort of badge", Chloe adds handing it to me.

"It's a police badge. I think it's Adam's", I say.

"Metropolis P.D", Clark reads.

"Well then let's go talk to them", I say.

"No. You need your rest you just got home from the hospital. Chloe and I will go", Clark says.

"Who's gonna watch over her", Chloe asks.

"I don't need watching over. I have all the protection I need", I say.

"Well Oliver's in Metropolis. So why don't you go to Lex's. He has guards everywhere", Clark suggests.

"Would it make you feel better", I ask them. They nod and I roll my eyes. "Fine I'll go", I say. They smile and we get in Chloe's car. She drives me to the mansion while Clark calls Lex. I get out with my purse and they drive away. I sigh and go inside. I knock on the door and Lex opens it with a smile on his face. He moves out of the way as I go in. He shuts the door and I look at him. "You know you didn't have to do this", I say.

"I didn't have to. I wanted to", Lex smiles. I set my purse on his couch and sit down. "You know it's gonna be alright. You're safe here", Lex says sitting next to me.

"It's not that I don't feel safe here. It's just I have all the protection I need", I reply taking my silver gun out of my purse.

"I didn't know you carried a gun or knew how to use one", Lex says.

"I mean I would like to feel safe but also be safe. Lately I've had no privacy or independence because of what's been happening to me. With being in the hospital constantly. And all these attackers", I sigh. "So I decided to get my gun license and buy a gun", I reply.

"Are you sure you want a gun", Lex asks. I nod my head and lie my head on Lex's shoulder. I hear a noise come from another room. I look around worried and Lex looks at me. "I'll check it out", Lex says. I nod and get up. I walk upstairs and get out a book. I sit on his couch and open the book. I hear a gun shot so I get up.

"Lex", I call. I hear footsteps behind me so I turn around. I see a guy in a black mask. He takes off his mask and it's Adam. "Where's Lex", I ask backing up. I back up into the rail so I can't back up anymore.

"I did it for you", Adam says getting closer to me. I look at him and his head is bleeding. A tear rolls down my cheek and he grabs my arm roughly.

"Let go of me", I yell. Adams grip gets tighter and I push him off me. I start to run but he grabs my and holds me over the rail.

"Want me to let go of you now", Adam warns.

"Please... don't", I beg.

Adam let's go of me and says "oops." Clark runs in and looks up. He catches me in one swift move and I look at him.

He sets me down and I say "I'll take care of Adam. But Lex is downstairs", I say. Clark runs away but Adam comes downstairs. I grab a gun and point it at him. I shoot him in the leg and he falls down. Lex and Clark come out and see Adam on the ground. "What took you so long", I ask. We call the police and they take him away. I see Lex getting his arm bandaged. Clark walks over to me and I look at him. "Thank you for saving me. If I had hit the ground I would probably be dead", I sigh.

"But your not and it's over with. And you're safe", Clark says.

"Clark I'll never be safe. Knowing your secret is always gonna put me in danger. But I don't regret knowing your secret. I wouldn't give a moment of knowing your secret and being safe away. Being a part of your life and you trusting me is worth my life. I care about you a lot and I would do anything to protect you", I say. Clark looks at me sadly and I smile. "But I would die before revealing your secret. And you may want to protect me. But you won't always be able to protect me. I have to protect myself", I say.

"I know. I just really care about you", Clark sighs.

"I care about you to. That's why I'm telling you this. I don't want you to feel like it's your fault. Ever", I say. Clark hugs me and I hug back. "Come on let's go home", I say. We leave and go back to the farm. We go in and Martha and Jonathan pull his into hugs.

"We heard what happened. Are you okay", Martha asks.

"We're fine", I say. I head upstairs and shut my door. I take off my makeup and shower. I blow my hair dry and brush it. I change into a tank top and yoga shorts. I set my phone and keys on my dresser. I get into bed and fall asleep.
