Ugh. Today was already off to a terrible start.
I had just gotten into my groove, fingers flying over the keyboard, pretending to be productive while also mentally planning which snack to order next.
I am really pissed today. All thanks to Aisha, who decided to pull one of her infamous disappearing acts again.
Aisha—the star of our chaotic group—decided to vanish without a word. Typical Aisha, leaving us hanging like some suspense thriller where she's the dramatic lead. No messages, no calls, just poof—gone.
Who does that? And now, on top of dealing with the mystery of where she vanished to.
Just then, a knock interrupted my spiraling thoughts.
"Ms. Manvi, Mr. Shah is asking for you in his cabin," Gaurav's assistant, poked his head in, looking far too cheery for my current mood.
His cabin. What, was he too busy to walk the ten steps to mine?
The universe was testing me today, for real.
I sighed, dramatically slamming my laptop shut. "Seriously?" I muttered to myself, stomping out of my cabin like I was about to face off with a villain in an action movie.
If Gaurav wanted something, why didn't he just come? But nooo, Mr. Big Shot Swimmer had to send his assistant like he was the king of this office. The nerve.
I pushed the door open without knocking.
Gaurav was lounging at his desk, his laptop open, wearing that calm, infuriatingly charming expression he always has. Completely unbothered by my dramatic entrance, of course.
His assistant—let's call him Royal Pain, because why not—stood to the side, clutching his clipboard like it was his personal shield. He flashed me a nervous smile, which I promptly ignored.
"What is it?" I snapped, barely masking my impatience. "Don't you have legs? Use them next time to come to me, idiot." I crossed my arms, narrowing my eyes at Gaurav, who looked up with a smirk.
"Now that's disrespectful to your Boss, darling," he said, leaning back in his chair with that cocky grin. "I only called you because you aren't picking up anyone's calls."
I plopped down in the chair opposite him, still glaring. "Yeah, well, I'm pissed. Aisha left without telling anyone, so I'm not in the mood to talk to anyone. Including you."
Gaurav's expression softened—just for a second—before he shrugged. "She has her reasons. She'll come back. We'll ask her then, yeah?"
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Fine. So, why exactly did you call me in here?"
Gaurav straightened, suddenly all business. "Oh, yeah. Rivaan Bro called me—because, again, you're not picking up his calls—and he wants to see you in his office. Something about a meeting with You, Anaya and Radhika."
