Finally, it's Diwali.
After sneaking back in with Divu, we got an earful from Kavya bhabhi. Her lecture was classic "you scared us to death" material, complete with dramatic pauses and pointed stares. I mean, sure, we could've technically told them, but how exactly does one inform their family about sneaking out?
"Hey, just FYI, we're off to do something we're definitely not supposed to. See you later?" Yeah, no.
Still, Kavya bhabhi's anger didn't stand a chance against my secret weapon—puppy eyes. Perks of having big doe eyes, I guess. One well-timed blink and a pout later, her stern expression crumbled like a dry cookie. She sighed, ruffled my hair, and muttered something about me being impossible, but I knew I was forgiven.
Divu owes me big time for saving us both from her wrath. Now comes the big surprise: Neha di casually told me that I'd be shifting to Saad bhai's mansion soon. Not that I minded—I was practically living between his place and the Oberois' mansion already.
But what bugged me was why Saad bhai didn't tell me himself. It's so unlike him to keep me out of the loop.
I've tried tracking him down, but he's like a ghost lately. He hasn't been to the office—I even sneaked in to check, much to the annoyance of the security guards. And the warehouse? Yep, just got back from there, and no sign of him. I asked Neha di about it, and she brushed it off, saying he's tied up with "some work."
Suspicious, isn't it?
Fine. I'll let it slide for today. But tomorrow? Oh, tomorrow he's not escaping my interrogation.
For now, I'm at Radhika and Manvi's penthouse, getting ready for the festivities. Their place is like stepping into Pinterest—everything perfectly decorated with fairy lights and candles.
Radhika, as always, is being the bossy elder sister, fussing over my outfit while Manvi is prancing around, excitedly deciding which sweets to hoard for herself.
As I stepped into the penthouse, Radhika's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Where were you?" she demanded, her hands on her hips.
Oh, you know, just the usual. I was busy throwing a barely-alive scumbag in front of his equally vile brother's house, waiting to watch the chaos unfold. Then, just for fun, I kidnapped the brother too, dragged him off to a cozy little torture session, and was this close to finishing the job. But hey, it's Diwali—the first one I've decided to properly celebrate in my 21 years of existence—so I thought, Why not give them a festival break?
But obviously, that wasn't something I could tell her.
So instead, I shrugged and said, "Oh, nothing. Just some office work."
Her eyes immediately rolled in a yeah, sure kind of way, but thankfully, she let it slide. I guess even Radhika knows not to dig too deep when it comes to my excuses.
