Author's Note: I'm not really typing this to give you an update on anything, unfortunately. More so, there's an important content warning I'd like to give my readers at this point. This is, after all a mature work, and something I really only intended for adults to read. However, I can't control any of you, just let you know what to expect beforehand. This chapter is VERY sexually explicit, and I would recommend skipping this chapter if you love the story but would rather not read anything of that nature. And for those of you who like spicy romances, I'm hoping this fits the bill. There's also the description and mention of blood in this chapter as well, if that bothers you. Anyway, that's all from me, and happy reading!

P.S. There's another bit of Italian in this chapter, which translates to "I have never seen such beauty."

He stood silent for a moment, staring at the ties on my dress, then cleared his throat. "Y-yes, my dear, just a moment." He dashed out of the room faster than I'd ever seen him move before, in fact, it was faster than I'd seen anyone move before. The only way I really knew he'd gone is the curtains twitching in the wake of the wind his speed had produced.

In the space of a breath, he was back with a spill from the kitchen fireplace. He took the long stick around and lit several candles, painting the room in a low-lit golden glow. He shook out the small flame, then closed the door, sealing us both in a private retreat.

His hands were slow and gentle as he tugged the lacing loose from my dress, peppering the back of my neck and my shoulders with kisses as the bodice loosened around me. Once the dress began to fall, I stepped forward out of it, my own hands sufficient to undo my corset. Once out of that, I took the deep breaths of sublime release. Standing in my shift alone, it was hard to ignore the cold that had crept into the room.

He was quick to surround me with his arms to ward off the chill. He kissed me again, this time more slowly, more softly than he had before. It was enticing and left me wanting more when he pulled away from me again. He had long since cast aside his shirt, and I found myself enveloped in a cloud of his warm cinnamon smell.

"Are you sure you want this, Marienne? I know you aren't a woman of nobility, but I won't rob you-" I placed my fingers across his lips, stilling him to silence.
