Author's Note: Just as a heads up, since I've been trying to get these last chapters out quickly, I figured I'd let you know as the reader how close we're coming to the end! I fully expect my next update to be the final three chapters of this story. But have no fear! This part of the story may be nearly done, but I am planning for there to be a sequel to this story eventually. I just wanted to leave a quick note here, and tell you how thankful I am for the readers that have stuck with this story to its end.

You guys are the real ones. This has been one of the best writing experiences I have ever had, and each and every read, vote and comment is the best encouragement I have gotten to continue to write, and to see this project to its end. Thank you for helping me learn to believe in myself.

I was just beginning to rise when I heard a knock on my door. I finished pulling on my dress for the day and answered it. Marienne's haunting grey eyes were staring directly into mine, her eyebrows meeting together in the middle of her brow, a mix of frustration and determination written on her face. "I need your help." She whispered.

"Of course. What is it?" I asked, my heartbeat thumping in my chest. She was clearly agitated, her cheeks flushing with excitement. While I'd never thought my friend timid, this level of distress was highly uncommon for her. Her smile was mean, and filled with malice. I swallowed. I don't know that Marienne realized how intimidating she could be. I never needed a reminder that Victor was a vampire, it was evident in everything he did. However, I had seen Marienne as she became the strong creature she was now, and it was certainly going to take some getting used to.

"I know how we can stop Valentina, but we have to hurry. Genevieve is waiting for her to leave her room right now, but we have to go in there as quickly as we can." She reached out and grabbed my hand, tugging me along behind her down the hall. I only shrugged and accepted that I was going to be involved in this no matter what. The other maids would sometimes poke fun at me for how I seemed to always get wrapped up in the matters of vampires. I wasn't sure what it was about me that seemed to draw them in, but Marienne was my dear friend, and I couldn't really complain about it.
