Author's Note: I was hoping I wouldn't have to do one of these in regards to the word count, as much earlier on in the book I talked about a chapter around 3K words being the longest one. And it was, until today. This chapter comes in at 4.3K and has pushed Eyes of Azyron passed 70K words! Woo! I am super happy I made my goal, but I didn't expect to have it made this far before the book is truly finished. And on another note, on 11/2/24 this story also surpassed 1,750 reads! It's coming closer 2K everyday, and I cannot believe how lucky I am to have had this much support. Thank you all, for everything.
Here's to hoping I managed to wrap up this story before too much longer! Honestly this chapter nearly killed me XD.

I awoke, laying in my bed, and no knowledge of how I arrived there. My body ached all over, and I moaned while sitting up. I heard the rustling of cloth as someone moved and positioned themselves around me. Amelia's face swam into my vision, her warm brown eyes filled with sorrow and concern. Her face was a bit puffy and red. Had she been crying?
I rubbed my head, trying to chase out the pain echoing inside of my skull. "Could you get me some water?" She stood up, nodding, then disappeared from my view for a moment.
I stared at the heavy folds of the curtains covering my bed, grateful they had been closed and light wasn't allowed to stream in freely. However, it felt entirely too close and claustrophobic after the hell I'd been through in the dungeon. I held my breath for a moment, half-expecting to hear Azyron's voice booming within my innermost thoughts yet again. Thankfully, it never came, and I let my breath out in a huff.
The water Amelia offered me was cool and soothing as it coursed down my throat. I felt refreshed and more like myself once I finished the cup, then sipped slowly on another. Amelia sat timidly on the edge of my bed, parting the curtains and letting in a halo of light that glinted in her auburn hair. She smiled at me weakly.
I shook my head. "Amelia, I'm afraid I've been a terrible fool. I never should have gone looking for Ayzron." I didn't really know what I'd been looking for in the first place, and I truly got more than I had bargained for.
"We're just grateful you are alright, Marienne. We thought... we feared that you would never wake up. Victor has forced himself to stay away from you all this time, dreading the choice he would have to make if it seemed that Azyron still possessed you." I knew instinctively what she meant, what choice he would have had to make. If the demon had still inhabited my flesh, there was no concrete idea of the damage it could have wreaked. From the way that I felt, the toll of just the brief possession that I had only the barest memory of, was indeed great.
