"You owe me now, you know," Sanemi said in a teasing tone. "How are you gonna pay me back, by the way?" he continued."I'll do anything you want," Giyu replied bluntly.
"Anything, huh? Sounds good." Sanemi smirked at Giyu.
Time Skip...
Last year on Christmas, Giyu decided to confess his feelings to Sabito and had started dating him. It happened near a beautiful pond decorated with lights and ornaments. It was a breathtaking view. As Giyu confessed his feelings, fireworks exploded in the sky, making the moment even more magical and memorable. Sabito always loved watching fireworks from this spot, and Giyu had chosen it intentionally because of its sentimental value.
But now, Sabito would be at the same spot—with the person he cheated on Giyu with.
Determined, Giyu planned to go to that exact same spot with Sanemi, wanting to show Sabito that he wasn't broken by the breakup, and that he could be special to someone else—just like Sabito once was to him.
To prepare for the big day, Giyu and Sanemi went shopping for new clothes, gifts for each other, and decorations for their apartment. They wanted everything to be perfect.
Today was the day. Giyu was taking Sanemi to Sabito's favorite spot, hoping to make his ex-boyfriend jealous.
Sanemi had gotten ready for the occasion. He wore the outfit that Giyu had picked out for him—a matching set with Giyu. As he finished dressing, he walked to Giyu's bedroom.
"Are you ready? I think we shouldn't wear the same outfit. It looks ridiculous and kinda cringe," Sanemi said, stepping into the room.
"What do you mean, cringe? It's couple goals! Everyone likes that," Giyu replied, tying his hair back into a low ponytail.
"Shit, no way—you cut your long hair?" Sanemi said, his eyes widening in surprise.
"Yeah, I did," Giyu replied, his voice calm but carrying a hint of sadness. "Hair holds memories, you know? Sabito used to love my long hair... so I cut it off."
Sanemi frowned, not knowing how to respond. He was never great with emotional conversations, but something about Giyu's quiet pain made him want to try. "I guess... it's a way to move on, huh?" he said, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
Giyu looked away, his fingers lightly brushing the shorter strands of his hair. "It's not as easy as I thought it'd be. Every time I look in the mirror, I still think about him. But it feels... lighter now, like I'm starting to let go, bit by bit."
Giyu was dressed stylishly in a winter outfit that included a long, black, double-breasted coat with large buttons and a notched collar. Underneath, he wore a thick, red turtleneck sweater, providing a soft contrast to the dark coat. His slim-fitting black jeans completed the sleek look, and for footwear, he had chosen black-and-white sneakers, adding a casual touch to the ensemble.
Sanemi wore the same outfit, except his turtleneck sweater was green. Though he liked the outfit, he couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable about the matching look.
Giyu opened his cupboard and took out a small gift box, handing it to Sanemi. "Here, it's your Christmas gift, Shinazugawa," Giyu said with a genuine, small smile.
"You actually bought a gift for me? I remember last year, you didn't," Sanemi said, grabbing the gift.
"Last year, you had a fight with me," Giyu replied, then shifted his tone to a more dramatic one, "if you remember, you were the one who started it."
"Yeah, I forgot. Fair enough, I didn't get you anything last year either," Sanemi said, starting to open his gift.
As he pulled out the contents, he found a beautiful and simple scarf featuring a black and white Nordic pattern. The scarf alternated between black and white, decorated with small geometric shapes and larger motifs like reindeer and traditional folk figures.
Sanemi stared at the scarf, taken aback by how much he liked it. "Thank you... It's beautiful. I really love it."
"I'm glad you like it," Giyu replied, his smile growing warmer. "Now put it on, and let's go on our date."
He took the scarf from Sanemi's hand and gently wrapped it around Sanemi's neck, his fingers brushing against Sanemi's skin. As Giyu leaned in, Sanemi could feel the warmth of his breath on his face.
Giyu had applied a bit of makeup, his lips slightly glossy from lip balm, giving them a soft shine. His wolf-cut hair, styled into a short ponytail, framed his face, making him look both beautiful and cute. Sanemi couldn't help but stare at him.
"He looks so handsome, was he always this handsome, No, he was not . I would've noticed if he was this... I don't even know how to describe it. he look beautiful. And cute... I never saw him like this before," Sanemi thought, but he kept it to himself as they left the house.
Sanemi's cheeks felt warm, his heart racing with a strange feeling he couldn't quite shake off. Giyu had always been his childhood friend, someone he had known for years, yet now... something was different.
He never realized how much Giyu's presence affected him until today. Sanemi found himself wondering if these new feelings for Giyu meant something more.
As they left the apartment and headed toward Sabito's favorite spot by the pond, the winter air was crisp, with snow lightly falling around them. The path was lit with soft lights, and in the distance, Giyu could already hear the distant popping of fireworks starting to go off. The memories of last year rushed back to him, the warmth of Sabito's hand in his, the fireworks lighting up the sky as they shared their first kiss at this very spot.
But this time, it would be different.
When they arrived, the pond was decorated just as beautifully as it had been before—colorful lights reflecting off the water, the scene almost painful. And there, standing by the railing, was Sabito... with his new boyfriend.
Giyu's heart tightened, but he squared his shoulders. He could feel Sanemi's presence beside him, and for the first time, it gave him a sense of calm.
Sanemi glanced at Sabito, noticing the smug look on his face. "Ready to put on a show?" Sanemi whispered, nudging Giyu.
Giyu's heart sank as Sabito's harsh words echoed in his ears, words from the same person who once called him the love of his life.
"Really? You already got a new boyfriend, you fucking slut?" Sabito spat, pointing a finger at Giyu. His voice was full of venom.
The insult cut deep. Giyu could feel a tight knot forming in his chest, sadness washing over him. How could someone he loved so much degrade him like that?
Sanemi, standing beside Giyu, felt his blood boil. He stepped forward, his grip tightening around Giyu's waist. "What the hell did you just say?" Sanemi's voice was laced with fury. "How dare you talk to Giyu like that! You don't deserve him, you asshole."
"Oh, shut up," Sabito sneered, crossing his arms. "I know you're not really his boyfriend. Giyu hates when people touch him like that, especially around his waist. You're just trying to show off because you want me to think he's moved on. But there's no way Giyu can live without me. I know him too well."
Sabito's words hit too close to home. He knew Giyu's habits, his little quirks. The fact that Sabito could see through their charade made Giyu feel even smaller, like the breakup had left him more exposed than he realized.
Sabito's new boyfriend shifted awkwardly beside him, sensing the escalating tension.
"Oh, really? And what makes you think that?" Sanemi's voice dropped lower, his smirk turning cold as he pulled Giyu closer. "We're in a relationship now—one that's actually good for him."
"You really think I'm going to believe that crap—" Sabito started, but his sentence was cut off as Sanemi suddenly grabbed Giyu by the chin and, without hesitation, pressed his lips against his.
