After his shower, Giyu came out, freshly and noticed Sanemi seated on the bed, reading one of his romantic books. As Giyu began changing into his clothes, he glanced at Sanemi, still lost in his book.
"Sanemi, where's Tengen?" Giyu asked, his voice casual but his mind racing with questions he wasn't ready to confront.
Sanemi looked up briefly from the pages. "Oh, he went back to his room. He said to eat breakfast and take some rest. The girls want to do some shopping later, so we'll head out in the evening. After that, we'll check out some places and then hit the club," Sanemi explained, returning to his book without a second thought.
Giyu nodded but kept watching Sanemi, trying to make sense of the situation. "I need to figure this out. If he really is in love with me... I just hope he isn't, because I'm not ready for this—especially not with my friend."
As he applied his lip balm, Giyu glanced at Sanemi's face. He noticed the dryness in his friend's lips, and an idea formed in his mind—a subtle test to gauge Sanemi's feelings. "Sanemi, come here. Your lips look dry," Giyu said, holding up the balm.
Sanemi raised an eyebrow, still engrossed in his book. "What? I'm not putting that on," he said dismissively, his focus not shifting.
Giyu walked over, a bit more insistent. "I said," Giyu repeated, yanking the book from Sanemi's hands, "your lips are dry. Apply this." He then cupped Sanemi's face in his hands and began applying the lip balm himself. "Idiot, have you even seen my lips? They're soft," Giyu remarked, brushing the balm carefully across Sanemi's lips.
Sanemi froze, completely caught off guard. Giyu was so close, his hands warm and gentle against his skin. His heart raced, and a blush crept up his neck, turning his face slightly pink. He stared at Giyu's lips for a brief moment and, without thinking, blurted out, "I know... they're soft. So soft, like the petals of roses."
Giyu stopped abruptly, dropping his hands and stepping back as if Sanemi's words had slapped him. His expression shifted quickly from casual to something darker—almost mad. Sanemi's heart sank. He knew he'd said too much. He hadn't meant to reveal that much of his feelings, not like this.
Giyu turned away, his back to Sanemi now. "Why do you keep buying those gifts for me, Sanemi? Especially the ones with moon and stars on them?"
Sanemi swallowed hard, realizing Giyu wasn't just talking about the gifts. He was asking for answers. He got up from the bed, walked over, and gently held Giyu's wrist. "Because I can't buy you the real moon and stars, so I give them to you in the form of these gifts," Sanemi said, his voice steady but filled with emotion.
Giyu stared at him, his heart racing. "You know what you're saying, Sanemi?" His voice was quiet, but the question hung heavily between them.
Sanemi didn't flinch. His eyes were locked on Giyu's, brimming with certainty. "Of course I know," he replied, his tone filled with confidence and sincerity.
Giyu tried to pull away, but Sanemi's grip was firm, not letting go. Frustration bubbled up in Giyu, and he blurted out, "I don't love you, Sanemi. Neither will I."
The words hit Sanemi like a punch to the chest. His heart felt like it shattered in that moment, and his voice trembled as he asked, "What do you mean? What's wrong with loving me? We're friends—"
Before he could finish, Giyu interrupted, his voice strained, almost pleading, "I don't want to love you. I'm not ready. Love... love is scary."
Sanemi's eyes softened, but his resolve didn't falter. "If you love me, it won't be scary," he said, stepping closer, looking directly into Giyu's eyes. "Loving me would be the most beautiful thing that ever happens in your life. Trust me, Giyu."
Giyu shook his head, conflicted and scared. "Don't love me. There's no meaning in loving me," he whispered, his voice breaking.
Sanemi took a deep breath, his heart aching as he remembered how broken Giyu had been after Sabito. He had been there for him, holding Giyu in his arms as he cried and fell apart. Sanemi knew how hard it had been for him to even think about love again.
"It's okay if you don't love me," Sanemi said softly, his voice gentle but firm. "But you can't stop me from loving you. Take your time, Giyu. Heal. And when you're ready, love me. Only me."
With that, Sanemi let go of Giyu's wrist and turned around, leaving the room, his heart heavy but hopeful. Giyu stood there, frozen, his mind a whirlwind of emotions as he watched Sanemi walk
