After Obanai's heartfelt confession and the tender kiss shared under the setting sun, he and Mitsuri returned to their rooms to freshen up for dinner. The excitement of their newfound relationship lingered between them, but there was also a sense of calm, as though the weight of years of unspoken feelings had finally been lifted.
As they walked hand-in-hand toward the restaurant, the warm night air wrapped around them, and the soft glow of the hotel's lights reflected in the water. Mitsuri couldn't stop smiling, and Obanai kept sneaking glances at her, still trying to process how lucky he was.
When they reached the reception, Tengen approached the hostess and said, "Excuse me, miss, we've booked two tables under the name Uzui."
"Let me check, sir," the receptionist replied as she scanned her reservations list.
Once the group was shown to their table, Obanai furrowed his brow and turned to Tengen. "Why are there two different tables booked?" he asked suspiciously.
Giyu, who had been oddly quiet up until now, smirked as he pulled out two black ribbons from his pocket. "You'll see," he said cryptically before approaching Obanai and Mitsuri. "Now, close your eyes."
"What the hell is this?" Obanai grumbled, immediately skeptical.
"Yeah, what's going on?" Mitsuri asked, giggling nervously as Giyu gently tied the ribbon around her eyes.
"Shut up and just walk with us," Tengen said with his usual mischievous grin. "Or both of you will end up tripping and falling."
Shinobu, ever the calm voice in their chaos, added with a smile, "It's a surprise for you two."
They led Obanai and Mitsuri carefully through the restaurant. The muffled sounds of clinking glasses, soft music, and murmured conversations filled the air, but the couple had no idea where they were being taken. Mitsuri squeezed Obanai's hand tightly, her heart pounding in excitement.
Finally, they stopped. "Alright, you can take off the ribbons," Giyu said.
As they removed the blindfolds, their eyes widened in awe. They were standing on a private terrace, illuminated by soft string lights that twinkled like stars. The table before them was elegantly set for two, with delicate candles flickering in the gentle breeze. The view overlooked the beach, where the moon cast a silver glow on the rolling waves.
"It's... beautiful," Mitsuri whispered, her eyes shining with emotion.
Obanai, usually reserved, was momentarily speechless. His friends had arranged the perfect romantic dinner for them, something out of a dream. He turned to Giyu, who was grinning triumphantly.
"Enjoy yourselves," Rengoku said, stepping forward with a proud smile. "We'll be downstairs, having our own dinner."
Shinobu gave Mitsuri a wink before they all left the couple to their moment.
Obanai and Mitsuri near the table, still overwhelmed by the effort their friends had put into this surprise. The setting was perfect, but what made it truly special was the person standing across beside each other.
As they gazed into each other's eyes, the awkwardness from earlier disappeared. They were no longer just friends or hesitant lovers. Now, they were something more, and as the waves crashed softly in the background, Obanai reached across the table, holding Mitsuri's hand once more.
"Thank you," he whispered, his voice sincere and quiet. "For everything."
Mitsuri blushed, her heart swelling with joy. Her eyes shimmered as she gazed at the man she loved. "No, Iguro-san, thank you... for finally telling me how you feel. I've waited so long for this," she said, her voice trembling with emotion.
Obanai, feeling more confident in his love than ever before, took a deep breath and looked into her eyes with determination. "And once we graduate... let's get married."
Mitsuri's eyes widened, a tear rolling down her cheek. "Iguro-san..." she whispered, her voice full of emotion.
"Will you marry me, Mitsuri Kanroji?" Obanai asked, his voice steady this time, the hesitation completely gone. He was certain.
Mitsuri blinked away more tears, overcome with happiness. "Yes, I will. I love you, Iguro-san," she replied, her voice filled with the purest sincerity as tears of joy streamed down her face.
Obanai leaned closer, gently wiping away her tears with his thumb, his touch tender and warm. He then pulled her into a soft embrace, his heart racing but content. "I will love you forever, and I promise to make you the happiest person in the world," he whispered against her ear, his voice full of love and devotion.
Then, pulling back just slightly, Obanai looked into Mitsuri's eyes once more before leaning in for a gentle kiss. Their lips met softly, a kiss filled with promise and affection.
When they finally parted, their foreheads rested together for a brief moment, both of them smiling, their hearts full. They returned to their chairs, still holding hands, and continued their meal, the world around them feeling lighter and brighter.
After the wonderful surprise and romantic dinner, everyone returned to the hotel and went to their respective rooms. However, there was a small change—Mitsuri, feeling closer to Obanai after their heartfelt confession, decided to stay in his room that night.
In Giyu and Sanemi's room, Giyu flopped onto the bed without a second thought. "Ugh, I'm exhausted," he groaned, his voice muffled against the pillow.
Sanemi, who was changing into more comfortable clothes, chuckled at Giyu's dramatic expression. "Yeah, but it was fun," he said as he finished changing and lay down next to Giyu. He turned his head slightly, watching Giyu settle into the blankets. "Good night, Giyuu," he said softly, his thoughts drifting. "Giyu... my love."
"Hmm, good night, Sanemi," Giyu murmured, already half-asleep—or so it seemed.
Sanemi never fell asleep before Giyu. Sanemi always stayed awake, waiting for Giyu to drift off first. When Giyu finally fell into his deep, peaceful slumber, Sanemi would quietly move closer, wrap his arms around him, and hold him through the night. Giyu slept like a log, so he never seemed to mind.
But tonight................
This time, Giyu wasn't asleep. He was lying there, eyes closed, but very much awake. As Sanemi shifted closer and embraced him, Giyu felt a wave of unfamiliar emotions wash over him. It wasn't the friendly, comfortable embrace they had shared when they were younger. This felt... different. Sanemi's arms were wrapped around him more protectively, more intimately, as if the embrace held something more than just friendship.
Giyu's heart skipped a beat. He could feel the warmth of Sanemi's chest against his back, the steady rise and fall of his breathing. It was strange for Giyu, It wasn't the playful, casual touch he was used to. There was a tenderness in the way Sanemi held him tonight, something that made Giyu feel... confused.
Trying to push the unfamiliar feelings away, Giyu told himself it was nothing. "Sanemi is probably just half-asleep." He thought, trying to convince himself. After all, they had been close for so long, it wasn't unusual for them to share space like this. But why did it feel so different now?
