A/n: two chapters in one day !!
Also guess what I'm posting this on?😏My new phone!! I've had an iPhone 7 since sixth grade and I'm in 11th now...so happy🙏🙏
The snow crunches beneath my feet as I walk alongside my three friends, and my arms are huddled into me to capture the only warmth I can. As we walk towards Alex's car I turn towards Luca with a frown. "Did Matteo seem upset when we left?"
"Matteo always seems upset." He points out with a knowing smile.
"Okay," I roll my eyes. "Did he seem more upset than usual? He looked mad at me." I note as I gnaw on my bottom lip in thought.
"I suppose so." He shrugs. "Though I can think of one reason why he might've been a little mad." He says with a grin, looking as though he's laughing at a joke only he knows the punchline to. I stare at him.
"What do you mean?" I groan. "You think I did something?"
"I think maybe you did unintentionally." He replies cryptically.
"Okay." I huff, growing annoyed. "What do you think I unintentionally did?"
"Oh c'mon?" He looks at me like I'm missing something obvious. When my expression stays the same, he rolls his eyes and explains. "When I walked through the door he was staring at you like you were his most favorite thing in the entire world. And then Grayson came in and you were practically jumping on him."
"What?" I exclaim incredulously. "I wasn't jumping on him, I gave him a hug because I've missed him." I frown, staring at him in utter confusion. "And besides, even if I was "jumping on him" why would that affect Matteo so much?"
"You didn't hug me like that, just saying." He mumbles bitterly, completely dodging the second half of what I'd said.
"Luca."
"Whatever. Either way, you're blind. And so is he if you both can't see it."
"See what?" I almost yell out of frustration. "For gods sake, Luca, stop being so vague and just tell me."
"He likes you, and you like him. God, everyone else can tell so I really don't understand how you don't know."
"What?" I can't help it, I burst out laughing at the absurdity, but his eyes only grow annoyed. "You can't be serious. You're not serious, right?"
"Dead serious." He sighs, losing his patience much like me.
"Matteo does not like me, and I most certainly do not like him." There's still traces of amusement when I'm don't talking, and I'm still laughing.
"Fine." He throws his hands up. "Whatever you say." He continues walking again, but I'm frozen in place as I stare after him.
"Wait a minute- hold on!" I run after him, grabbing at his arm. "What do you mean I like him?"
"Well don't sound too frightened," he reassures me. "It's kinda obvious he's obsessed with you as well."
"No he's not. And no I'm not." I deny, shaking my head rapidly. "What made you think that?"
"Not what made me think that. Everyone at this school thinks it honestly." He casually says.
"What?!" I shriek.
"Hey what's going on up there?" Grayson calls from behind us.
Whirling around, I exclaim, "do you think I like Matteo?"
"Well...duh?" He says it like it's obvious. "And he likes you? Everyone knows that."
"Oh my god." I whisper to myself, shaking my head back and forth. "You guys are insane. You're all reading this wrong. Me and Matteo do not like another."
"Why else do you think he got all jealous when you were jumping on Matteo?" Luca tilts his head.
"Okay," I start, "again, I wasn't jumping on him. It was a hug." I say sharply, looking to Grayson to prove my point, who nods along. "And it wasn't jealously. That's not why he was mad."
"Well then, I don't know." Luca throws his head back, and from the side I can see Alex watching everyone thoughtfully. "You're the one that asked me and now you don't want to hear it."
"Well I was looking for a reasonable answer that makes sense. Not a lie that's completely untrue." I turn to Alex. "What about you. You're actually sensible, aren't you?"
"You're asking me what I think?" He drawls on, and when I nod rapidly, he continues. "I think I've known there was going to be something going on between you guys when you stepped into our dorm for the very first time."
"What?!" I exclaim, watching a grin light up Luca's face as Grayson bursts into laughter. "Unbelievable." I mutter to myself. "You're all wrong and I don't want to hear it anymore." I cross my arms over my chest, marching ahead of everyone.
"Wrong way, Ce."
"Whatever." I scoff, turning around and walking in the opposite direction.
