Chapter Thirty Two- Chancing It

As the conversation with Isaac's parents concluded, Isaac moved behind Catherine, gently wrapping his arms around her waist in a warm embrace. Catherine instinctively reached down, holding his hands firmly against her, feeling the strength and comfort of his presence.

The moment felt intimate yet natural, a quiet affirmation of their bond amidst the whirlwind of events. Isaac leaned in close, whispering softly into her ear, "You were amazing today. I'm so proud of you."

Catherine smiled, her heart swelling with warmth. She leaned back slightly into his chest, allowing herself a rare moment of vulnerability. "I couldn't have done it without you by my side," she whispered, her voice filled with sincerity.

Isaac squeezed her hands gently, his thumb brushing her skin in a soothing gesture. "We make a good team. I don't know what I'd do without you."

The rest of the team, including his parents, stood back, quietly acknowledging the connection between the two of them. There was a sense of unity in the room, not just in the mission they had accomplished, but in the relationships that had been strengthened along the way.

Mrs. Morano smiled at the sight, her voice warm as she said, "It's clear how much you two mean to each other."

Catherine nodded, still holding Isaac's hands tightly. "We've been through a lot, but I trust him. Completely."

Isaac kissed the top of her head softly, and for a moment, it was just the two of them, despite the others in the room. Their bond felt unbreakable, fortified by the challenges they had faced together.

"We're not done yet," Isaac said, his voice low but determined. "But we'll face whatever comes next. Together."

Catherine smiled, leaning further into his embrace, feeling a sense of peace despite everything going on around them. "Always."

Just as Catherine and Isaac shared their intimate moment, the door to the room swung open, and Lucas burst in with an excited expression. His energy immediately filled the space, causing everyone to turn toward him.

"Guys, you're not gonna believe this!" Lucas announced, a wide grin on his face as he walked in, practically bouncing with excitement.

Isaac loosened his grip on Catherine but kept one arm around her, both of them turning to face Lucas. "What's going on?" Isaac asked, a hint of curiosity in his voice.

Lucas held up his phone, the screen still lit from the news he had just received. "I just got word from our contacts inside Safe and Secure—our plan worked flawlessly. The government is officially backing down, and they're starting to dismantle the surveillance operations!"

Catherine's eyes widened with surprise, and Isaac raised his eyebrows. "Already?" Catherine asked, clearly impressed.

"Yup! And not just that," Lucas continued, practically bursting with excitement. "We're getting recognition for it. The media is painting Safe and Secure as the villains they are, and we're being hailed as the ones who exposed the corruption."

Isaac let out a low whistle. "That's bigger than we expected."

Catherine smiled, her fingers still intertwined with Isaac's. "It means we're one step closer to finishing what we started."

Lucas nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly. The government officials have no choice but to comply. We have the upper hand now."

The room buzzed with energy as the team processed the news. Mr. Morano stepped forward, clapping Lucas on the back. "Well done, Lucas. This is a victory for all of us."
